Hook: Mockingbirds are quiet birds that cause no harm.
Transition: Yet, people are similar to these beautiful creatures, such as Tom Robinson, in the novel “To Kill a Mockingbird”.
Thesis: Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he is hard working like one, harmless, and unheard like one.

Topic Sentence: Tom Robinson is hardworking sense he works in the fields day by day, where the mockingbird works for survival.
Explain: Tom is a slave to another man. Therefore, he must pick cotton.
Quote: Evidence of his working
Explanation: Working hard, like the mockingbird.
Explain: He works hard to please.
Quote: Pleasing the guy he’s working for.
Explanation: Working to please is like the mockingbird because the bird wants to please its children.
Conclusion: Both are hardworking.

Topic Sentence: Like a mockingbird, Tom is harmless to others.
Explain: Unable to hurt anyone, mentally or physically, the mockingbird is the same.
Quote: Shot down
Explanation: Being shot down was a sin, because he is harmless.
Explain: The mockingbird attack in any way, like Tom.
Quote: Explanation of why the mockingbird is harmless.
Explanation: Neither attends to hurt anyone.
Conclusion: Both are harmless.

Topic Sentence: Tom, being unheard because of his nationality, the mockingbird is the same but it doesn’t sing.
Explain: Mockingbirds don’t sing much, while Tom is unheard by his nationality.
Quote: Court case, explanation of why the mocking bird is harmless.
Explanation: Neither has a word.
Explain: Misunderstood are the mockingbird and Tom Robinson.
Quote: Sin to kill a mockingbird, Tom Robinson’s court case solution.
Explanation: Because of being a bird or black, they are misunderstood as a nuisance.
Conclusion: Each are unheard.

Relate back to Hook: Humans and animals could be similar in many aspects.
Restate back to Thesis: Therefore, Tom Robinson is like the mockingbird because they are both hardworking, both harmless, and both unheard.
