CH. 02 The Garden of Eden
"You say that you are a loner but then why are you always clinging on to people? Deep inside you actually want to be noticed by people. You want to be loved by people. You don't want to remain an outcast. Inside, you are lonely." -Tenri ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ayane once told me that when you die, you lose all feeling like pain, sadness, and love. Orion said that you stop all forms of thought and become a vegetable. Ayase told me that your body ceases movement and begins to rot. Were they really all right? I mean, I still feel all of those things. So am I still alive? I thought for sure that I swallowed water. Wait. How can I still think? "If you keep sleeping on my lap, they'll go numb and you'll catch a cold."
That voice sounded familiar. Why do I want to open my eyes all of the sudden? My body seemed to gain energy back and the cryptic thoughts left my mind. There was no thought except I need to open my eyes and see the owner of this voice.
My eyes opened with no restraint and my breathing was not stressed. My vision was blurry but as my eyes focused, a girl a little older than me appeared before me and she surpassed the meaning of the phrase "Angelic beauty." Her hair was long and sleek, darker than the shadows of the abyss, her facial features were the pinnacle of perfection almost as if God made her to be perfection herself. My face reflected in her sapphire eyes and she formed a gentle smile. "I'm glad you are still alive." She said.
Words refused to leave my mouth that gaped wide open. Those words shocked me and enlightened me. This was the first time someone said that they were glad I was still alive. Back at the facility, if we got hurt badly and couldn't move, the white coats would kick us around or drag us on the floor to the medical center. There was no love in their actions only fear and anger of losing one of their test subjects. We were only tools for science.
She, however, brought forth something new. Her presence was above that of Ayane's and she herself felt so nostalgic. Urges raged throughout my body wanting to stay in this position looking at her gentle, goddess-like beauty that shone radiantly above, yet I needed to leave. Nothing lasts forever and dreams will only be crushed by fate. I needed to leave her, this girl who's name I did not know, yet felt as if I knew her presence for eternity. If I did not, pain will find the path to her heart.
I struggled to raise myself from her lap fighting my body who wished to remain immobile. I sat up, let out a small cough and looked around.
Oh crap. I died.
This was no longer the facility. There were trees. Real trees. Clear water. Real clear water. The ground was covered with real grass rooted to real dirt. Everything felt so incredible. For the first time, I wasn't in a simulated version of the outside world but the real thing. I was free from the pain of living the life I had. Everything is perfect.
"You are not dead."
I spun around and looked at the girl. What did she mean I wasn't dead? There is no sign of the white coats anywhere and there was no sign of a skirmish anywhere.
"You are in the realm between life as a human and the life of an angel. You were brought here because of your will to live. This place is where mankind began. This is the Garden of Eden."

Humans are creatures that wish for the companionship of others but there are times where they must be alone in their sanctuary. Sanctuaries are found in many forms. They range from a child's doll to the comfort of music to a simple bed to the ethereal land of Heaven but they all share one flaw- one person's sanctuary will always remain one's. No two people may share the same sanctuary. Romanticists will falsify their claims of sharing a sactuary in order to prove that it is possible but the hypocrites fail to support their words. They will return to their supposed sanctuary, initiate an arguement and soon leave to find another. That is why the Garden of Eden, the sacred sanctuary of Adam and Eve, disappeared and gave birth to trials humans face today. The serpent only tempted; the human made the choice. The two fought and wished for their own place forgeting about the holy words of God and blamed the serpent for destroying their peace. God tested and humanity failed. Punishment was the expulsion of humans from God's garden never to return.
In the end, humanity will continue with their own selfish beliefs that they deserve the place they reside and then they will no longer find a place they can call their sanctuary.
