The Perfect Day

Rose was packing the picnic basket when her sister walked in. “You're going out with that boy again?” Her sister asked making a face of disgust.
“Yes I'm going out with that boy again.” Rose laughed and rubbed her sisters head. Her sister pulled away laughing. “You're going to Aunt Marge's house while I'm gone.”
Her little sister went to the fridge, “I don't want to go to Aunt Marge's house. It smells like cats and old people.”
Rose laughed again. “That's because Aunt Marge is old. Shut the fridge door before you make this house a winter wonderland.” Her sister closed the door and started to pull the puppy dog eyes.
“Can I please go with you and the boy. I don't like him but anything is better then Aunt Marge.” Rose gave her sister a hug.
“You can't come this time. Its our 3 year anniversary and it's going to be a nice picnic just me and him. Now get ready to go to your Aunts house.” Her sister pulled away from her angry and stomped away. Rose smiled, her sister would forgive her in no time.
She sat by the water alone waiting for her boyfriend. It wasn't like him to be late but there was to be a good reason for it. She looked out over the still lake. A fish jumped out and landed in the water. There was no one for miles, the perfect place for them to celebrate their three years of dating. She listened again for the sound of his truck but only heard the birds and the wind. She was starting to worry. He was almost an hour late and that was not like him. He hated being late and if he knew he would be he would have called. She got up trying to calm down. Nothing happened he's fine. Your worrying over nothing. She said to herself in a last attempt to calm herself down. Finally she decided to go swimming and hopefully pull her mind away from her late boyfriend. She took off her shirt and pants, happy that she thought of wearing her bathing suit. She walked to the waters edge letting the water lightly brush her toes. She smiled and walked to the point, the ground suddenly dropped. The cool water lapped her legs and up to her waist. She loved the cool feeling. She got to the edge and took a deep breath, then dove into the deep water of the lake. The water covered her head and the cold feel took an instant effect on her. She came up for a quick breath of air before diving back underwater. She had been swimming since she was a little girl and knew no other place she felt happy and safe. She dove down seeing if she could reach the ground. Half way down a black figure caught her attention. She debated about going to see what it was, before she could make a choice she felt her lungs start to strain and went back to the surface. She sat up on the surface of the lake for a little while looking down below her in case the black figure was a fish or something. Finally she decided to dive back under. Half way down again she saw the figure and swam towards it. As it came into view she let out a scream and swam to the surface and away from the figure as fast as she could. She curled up on the beach in a fetal position still seeing the figures true form. The lifeless eyes and the blank expression, so different from his face in real life. She pulled her cellphone out of her pocket and dialed 911. “This is the emergency center what is your problem?”
“M-my boyfriend he's he's d-d-dead.” She said and broke into tears. When the police arrived they found her curled up in a ball crying on the waters edge.
She sat on the coach not saying anything for the next week. Her aunt came and moved in to take care of her and her sister. She was taken to a psychiatrist everyday but said nothing to anyone. Then suddenly one day she started talking again acting like nothing happened. Rose made breakfast for her Aunt and little sister and started to get ready for work. Her Aunt looked at her worried. “Are you sure your ready to go back to work? Maybe you should stay home again.”
“I'm fine. I can't stay home anyways. We need money and the only way we get it is if I work.”
“Your on a paid vacation until you feel like you can go to work. Your boss was very understanding.”
“I'm fine!” Rose shouted. Then put her hand over her eyes overcome with a sudden headache. “I'm fine,” she repeated in a softer voice. She wanted to forget the incident and go on with her normal life. Her Aunt shook her head and left. She heard her sister shout a good bye to her but paid little attention. She reached under her pillow pulled out a object, put it in her bag and left. Workers all day gave her worried looks, contently looking at her. Saying they were sorry making sure she didn't need anything. She held in her want to shout at them all to leave her alone, to pretend everything was alright. Slowly the workers left, leaving to go home and stay with their family's after such a long work day. Rose sat waiting for the last worker to leave and then went to her boss's office. “Hi Rose, It's nice to see you again.” Her boss said as he watched her shut his door. “You haven't stayed late at work for a long time.”
“Well I started to get serious with this guy but he is gone now.” She said and walked over to his desk. He looked her up and down.
“Really, what happened?” Her boss asked with a smile. Rose smiled back at him.
“Well see I had another lover and he was jealous of this new boy and wanted me all to himself. So one day he killed my boy and threw him a lake.” she sat on her bosses lap.
“What a mean person.” He leaned to give her a kiss but she pulled away.
“You want to know whats funny. I thought I was going to marry him, but my other lover brought things back into perspective. There are never happy endings are there?”
“You were just looking in the wrong place.” She laughed and leaned down to kiss him. While he kissed her she pulled out the object from her purse. There was two bright lights from the office that night and two loud noises. The next day a worker came in to find two dead body's sitting in a chair.
