Athena Black was the fourth personality to dissociate. The others often describe her as a very happy person, fun loving and easy to be around. This is the honest truth. Athena Black was created to be HAPPY, just for that purpose. She is, essentially, Penny's ideal self. She is everything Penny would like to be: artistic, talented in music (both vocal and instrumental), intelligent, and living in Penny's ideal conditions. You might describe Athena Black at Penny's "Dream Avi" for real life. There really is nothing that can stop Athena Black, and nothing that can upset her. She's an optimist, as opposed to the realism preferred by Penny. Her mind is a unique place, because she doesn't see the world through the eyes of a modern day teenage girl. Her perspective is something unique, unlike anything I've seen before. And because she honestly believes that everything will always work out for the better, things always go well for her. She is like the positive energy that keeps Athena Love in balance, like they are Yin and Yang. Athena never really dislikes anything or anyone. She surrounds herself with things she considers pleasant, so there really never is an option to be unhappy or upset. You could call Athena Penny's hippie side. She's very natural in what she does, and thinks in a simpler way. Things either are or they aren't to her. There is no in between. There is love, or there isn't. The impact this personality has had on Penny's life is as significant as any of the others. When Athena Black is showing through, Penny becomes a sweet, happy, bright, giving, loving, easy going person. Other people are naturally attracted to her, and gravitate towards her. You might say that Athena Black is both brilliant at making friends and horrible at it. Some find her airy and spacey, but many others find her refreshing from the constant horror that grips the world. Athena, along with myself, keeps Penny on track and focused on what really matters. If it weren't for Athena Black, Athena Love would probably become more dominant, and the negative impact that would have on Penny's life would destroy it. Athena Black and Athena Love are two parts of the same whole, the core of Penny's emotions. One without the other is catastrophic.
