Ko & Kei ♥
A pair of rather mischievous 'freelancers'. Find one and you know the other won't be far away. Due to their collective title as 'masters of disguise', nobody knows what race the duo are, or even if they are twins, business partners or lovers.
The kind of work they accept ranges from odd jobs to assassination. This all falls under the broader topic of 'intelligence gathering', and they will occasionally sell their information to the highest bidder. If you think you've managed to gather a tidbit of importance from them for free, you're probably mistaken and might want to check your wallet, if it's still there.
Ko is generally the face of the operation, and she's the one you'll see around the most. She also handles many face-to-face negotiations, unless the pair are working on several deals at once. In those cases, Ko will handle the ongoing deals while Kei travels to work out the details with prospective employers. Kei also handles any tech issues that may arise on cases, and collects payment at the end of jobs.
They keep themselves under the radar more often than not. Despite their having an airship, the Kameleon, they like to stay out of Cresento's way, preferring to instead deal with Brennivin, who is a lot more gullible. Every so often Cresento will approach them for more information. There have been times when the pair have caused problems for Cresento, but he often only finds it out weeks or sometimes even years later. There is an ongoing love-hate relationship between the pair and Nicolae as well.
Due to the mystery the duo deliberately keep about themselves, it is unknown as to whether or not their disguises are simply a hobby, the result of whatever race they may be or magic. If their race has given them features outside of those of humans, it is also unknown - they are regularly to be found wearing horns, generally sheep horns, and occasionally head wings, and usually a zigzagged black pointed tail, but these may simply be creative additions used to mislead.
Distinguishable features for the pair are rare, but both have certain features they rarely change (or cannot change). They both always wear a Promise Ring, usually gold unless the outfit requires silver. Ko has a scar over her left eye - it is unknown if it hampers her vision - and Kei sports a diagonal scar across his chest. There have been glimpses of white streaks in both Ko and Kei's hair, but again it is unknown if this is a part of the makeup or if they are unable to change it.
The existence of the pair became known around X-mas of 2009, when Sen and the Overseer attempted to muster cheer from the Gaians; however, reports have since emerged that they may have been around as early as 2007, working behind the scenes during many events. Ko and Kei are usually found at the Smoke and Mirrors Bar, based in Durem. Whenever pressed, they generally claim an allegiance to Durem, although nobody knows if they are telling the truth.
New information has come to light regarding the pair and any animals or companions seen with them. It appears that these animals are very rarely living, breathing creatures. More often than not, they are a creation of Kei's, cleverly used as communication devices between the two. Other uses of these 'pets' are not yet known, but are likely to include moving recording devices, remote-operated bombs, foot stools, snack dispensers and walking Gee Boi classic consoles.
