I finally got to rewatch the Angel finale while I actually knew who all those people are. The thing angel made Lorne do was utterly unforgivably horrific. It was strategic, and it was a beautiful capstone to angel's downward spiral into villainy. Oh yes. It's still breathtakingly evil. Andy Hallett's acting was wonderful. I loved the body language as he walked away. so perfect, so poignant. It saddens me knowing that Mr. Hallett died so young and that there will be n more of his achingly lovely singing and his excellent acting. It takes real skill to work with the subtlety he managed through all that make up. The ambiguous ending likely drove people nuts when it was new, but I must admit it works for me. In my heart of hearts, I hope Spike gets to be "a real boy" as he has earned it and Angel has not. I like that they very well likely didn't survive at all. The whole ending of the series seems rushed and contrived, but I'm happy with that last episode. With the deaths, betrayals, and ambiguities. with the wrapping up of Connor and Wesley and harmony. With Spike's whole last day.
