Dairy of an invisible objectivist
Remembering the past.
I remember when I first joined Gaia. It was back in the day; there was no fishing or towns, no evolving items or bundles, and it was simplistically brilliant at connecting people from around the world in one large BBC. I hardly did anything, however, and made infrequent accounts for a few years. Then towns came along, which gave a new purpose for me. I tried to find people to hang with; however, people didn't go to hang. They went to show off, to rub into others faces how rich they were. I remember I thought 20k was rich. I remember how I tried to roleplay on the forums, how I tried to join guilds and become active, but alas, as bright as I was, I was ignored to the core. I will never forget that year. Outside of Gaia, my life was a bore, so I had no where to go but to Gaia, the only thing to do on the internet at the time. And there I was, invisible. I became frustrated, and stopped after I was scammed.

Each one of my characters has been a different persona for me. I have lived and died seven times on Gaia, this character being my number 8. It is also my most successful. I started out quietly mulling around, angered that after five years, people were still ignoring me. I would join roleplays, but they still wouldn't reply to me. I would join guilds, but they would immediately die thereafter. I would try, and try, and try, and no matter what I did, no one would notice me. But instead of giving up like my past lives, I started live a new life in my character. I am a totally different person online, and I am not afraid to admit that. A new persona just takes over, one that is friendly, cuddly, helpful, eager, at time desperate, strong faithed, uber-headstrong, stubborn, and most importantly, myself.

With this new realization, I started working for the Gaian Annual Ball. I remember having seen the ball at Gambino's Mansion back when it was a forum, but I just thought it was one of those rich people only parties that are exclusive. And then I thought of the word exclusive, how it was supposed to mean rich, fancy, and aristocratic, but now I realize the literal meaning is GET OUT.

Now I am a host in the Gaian Annual Ball, just because I got out there and looked where help was needed. I want to eliminate the idea of exclusivity of items, of parties, of forums, of guilds, and of being successful. I also work for the Gaian Online Magazine, a brand new mag that looks to be great. They needed my help, but they didn't find me; I found them. There may be a problem here, however...

Looking back, I know now how much a guide what have been helpful. In order to be more helpful now, I am starting a new thread in the newbie sector, hopefully I am able to guide them better than I was in the past. A little bit of guidance in the beginning goes a long way in the end, so as a shout out to all of you out there, please go out of your way and find a newbie a week. Help them out, show them the ropes, and advance the community of Gaia further with each passing week. I don't expect this journal to be read, to be seen, to be even glanced over, but if it is, then I hope that I can reach out and touch someone to inspire them, because that is my purpose here; to inspire.
