Often described as the Bigfoot of Japan, the Hibagon is believed to stand at a not-so-terrifying 5 feet height and a weight of around 180 pounds. It is of dark brown or black color and very much like a gorilla or ape, only able to and seen often to walk on two legs. It lives in the mountainous areas, no known or indicated habit or diet.
July 20, 1970 is believed to be the very first sighting of the Hibagon. After that, more and more sightings were reported, and the Hibagon seemed to have relocated to the area below the mountains. In the last reported sighting in 1982, the Hibagon was seen to be much taller and, worse yet, carrying a stone tool much like an axe.
Critics would often have a suspicion that the supposed Hibagon is either nothing more than a fake, or that the more recent sightings below the mountain region were fake. It should be noted that in 1967, three years before the first Hibagon sighting, two men in California have captured live film of Bigfoot, the greatest evidence of Bigfoot's existence to this date.
The Hibagon has earned its own share of media and pop culture fame, first in the 2005 movie "Dear Hibagon" by Takayoshi Watanabe, then in the Third Season of the Cartoon Network television show The Secret Saturdays.
