The Rat Nest
This is, essentially, a personal journal. Sometimes my thoughts are meant to be private, but other times... well, I guess they just aren't. By all means, intrude. :]
Coolest dream I've ever had!
I was somehow in the body of a girl named Prier. She was, I guess, my age- so about nineteen. She was what was called a "Caller" which is someone who can summon monsters (which I unfortunately never got to do, because I was still in training for it). Callers had to completely master their emotions in order to learn to summon the beasts or else a lot could go wrong, but that wasn't easy because their emotions are not only carried on from past lives, but experienced much more strongly than normal humans. For that reason, the rare Callers were given special machines which was used to channel the highly emotional thoughts and memories out of the body and into rolls of film which they were supposed to store in a basement and never watch. She was going to a school (it seemed like it was for all ages and it was HUGE) which trained people (mostly younger) to become soldiers for war. It was the school (run strictly by the government) which gave her that machine. She had always used it (it was called something weird... patholazizo-something. Prier had trouble with it too) and followed the rule about not observing the films that it produced.
Prier had a very, very close friend (he was called her guardian). I don't remember ever knowing his name though. He had black hair, and now that I think of it, his facial features weren't really possible. He was sort of anime-ish, not very typical though, but cute. Anyway, this boy loved Prier with all his heart, and I could feel it throughout the dream. They had a special connection which neither of them could understand or explain. Callers would randomly lapse into horrible states of depression, and when this happened, her guardian would feel half of it (taking some of it away from her). But Prier didn't know this until he finally told her when she (as she did a lot) gave him the cold shoulder during her episodes. He tried to convince her to talk to him instead of using the machine. It was like he wanted her to remember something that he couldn't tell her. Since she had always used the machine to relieve her suffering, she was essentially addicted and wouldn't talk.
But one time, she agreed to use the machine and look through the film. Her guardian explained to her that it was the memories from her past lives that were haunting her so much (she didn't know anything about Callers, and had amnesia in the beginning of the dream) and that he believed that if she watched them (since she wouldn't just let them out and talk to him) they would slowly begin to lessen their painful grip on her. So she looked through the most recent one, as she sat in the basement at the school where she usually placed them obediently.
It was the life she was living now, before she lost her memory (I guess the following event did this to all Callers and it was this memory he most wanted her to see). She was a very young girl, and being hung by a rope from a flag pole by a bunch of other kids. They were laughing at her, and asking "that high enough for you, Caller?" I guess they were very rare, and very envied. Therefore they were brutally treated by many people, especially when young. At some point, she lashed out and screamed from the pole. I didn't see it happen, but a boy who had been standing near her was killed. His ghost rose up and (this part isn't that cool, just typical dream weirdness) played an acoustic guitar with a cowboy hat on. That boy was her guardian. And because she killed him, they had that connection.
All Callers were destined to become killers in the end, but they were also expected to make at least one kill as young as possible in order to create the bond with a guardian. This was the reason the government didn't want them to see their memories. It wasn't supposed to be known that Callers obtain their guardians through murder, and that it was expected for them to get them at a young age. Guardians knew of this event, but because of the deep love they developed for their Caller, they never exposed it for fear of losing them. It turned out that it was the government who had instilled the feelings of hatred for Callers in the minds of young children, and those feelings carried on into adulthood.
Since she now knew the secret, she would be considered an enemy of the government, and marked for termination (even though they were rare and extremely valuable tools of destruction when properly trained, they were reborn instantly and easily spotted out because of their high levels of emotion). Since she was a Caller, and her emotions were so intense, her mother (it was actually my mother, I saw her a few times; always cooking fish... I hate fish) was able to feel when she was in her depressive states. She now felt that there was an odd sense of panic and despair, and spoke to her about it. Prier didn't tell her everything (after all, her mother wasn't a mind reader, just able to tell when and what she felt), just that she watched an old memory and it hurt her. Her mother contacted the school officials.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to relive what would have been an epic battle between my guardian, my beasts and I because I woke up. =[
But damn!! That was by far the coolest dream I have ever had. I wish I could have it again...
