Peering around the corner, Countessa checked to see if the coast was clear. True, Countessa fled so many years ago when Larkin came with those brats that called themselves "Gaians" but that was only so that she could return later to free Nogard.

When she had thought that Larkin and the brats had left, Countessa had returned to her master's castle only to find it demolished and her master missing. For years, Countessa lurked in the shadows where few of Nogards followers remained. Those who were routed by Larkin were instantly destroyed.

'Twas not until a few years ago that Countessa learned that Nogard had survived in a stone statue form. Apparently, Larkin could not kill Nogard for whatever reason but chose to seal her away in a stone statue.

Because the coast was clear, Countessa hurried across the wide open space of the dungeon that Nogard was buried in. Smiling to herself, Countessa placed her hands on the statue and realized that even without her helping, Nogard's power was wearing down the spell that Larkin had created.

Placing the tip of her wand against the statue, Countessa closed her eyes and summoned her power. Focusing it through the wand, Countessa released the power to break through the remanets of Larkin's sealing spell.
