Graffiti Sky: The Lucid Dreamers Chronicles
"I want to runaway...I want to know the truth...I want to know the answers...I want to shut the door and open up my mind-- Linkin Park
Part 1, Act 1: Introduction, the newest Lucid Dreamer
An alarm clock goes off causing a teenage girl wake up and fall out of bed. She groans and reaches up to shut the alarm off. She sat up from the floor rubbing the sleep from her eyes and looked at what the clock actually said 7am. She hung her head and stood up going to a mirror ruffling her dark brown hair that was messy and unkempt. Through the mess she could see her dark blue eyes sparkle slightly within the mirror. Her eyes always did have that sparkle to them, even in complete darkness like how her room was now. She went over and opened her window letting the first morning rays of sunlight shine through the room.
"Well Tsukiko," She said talking to the mirror after getting dressed from her pj's. "Get ready for you first day in your new home."
This is Tsukiko Kuroi, age 16, blood type A+. She is the newest member of the Lucid Dreamers Foundation located in the city of Artemis. Your average large city with anything and everything you could possibly need. The Lucid Dreamers Foundation is a place where the members are dedicated to stopping evil and shining light on the darkness for those who have lost hope. The only problem is,.its not a very luxurious looking place and rent is high. So in order to keep up with the payments the members also take on the odd jobs that anyone will hire them to do.
Tsukiko made her way downstairs, the building's top level was a two-story building, rooms on the second floor, kitchen, living room and game room on first floor. On her way she passed a small child walking behind a girl with light yellow hair tied in pigtails and with a small round robot on her shoulder.
"Good morning Tsukiko-san" The girl said bowing her head as they passed. The small child did the same. These two were brother and sister Nobunuchi. The girl, Hotaru but everyone here called her Taru for short. The robot on her shoulder, T-30, one of her many inventions. Taru was just 12 and already great at building and inventing many things. The little guy behind her was actually her elder brother Kiton, age 14. Something happened to Kitons body in the past so now his mind is in an android that Taru also built.
"Good morning Taru, Kiton. Hey where are you guys going? Haven't you had breakfast yet?" Tsukiko asked watching them go towards the elevator down the hall.
"We've already eaten, besides I wanted to get started on Kiton's new defense system I've been working on so I gotta get started on it. See you later." Her and Kiton went to the elevator to the basement floors.
"Oi Tsukiko-chan!" Said another teenage boy with slightly dark tan skin and pale hair that looked like it was spiked up or being held up that way by the red flap bandana around his forehead. "So how was the first night here? Good I hope." He said placing his hand around her shoulder. Tsukiko looked at his hand with an uncomfortable expression. The boy went on, "You know if you ever get lonely you can-- Ow!" He was knocked on the head by a girl that was taller than both of them and wore a blue bandana and had two red strip markings under her left eye.
"Gaikun, quit trying to pick up the new girl. You should know by now that your lines never work on any girl." She said dragging the boy off by the ear. He looked up at her and smiled scratching his cheek. "Aw C'mon Ness, don't say that. Ladies can't resist my lines."
"I did when you tried them on me." Replied Ness.
Tsukiko smiled slightly with an exaggerated sweatdrop sliding down the back of her head as she saw the two go around a corner. "They may be demons but they sure are funny sometimes." Kijosachi Ness, age 18. Gaikun, age 16. Both demons but from different tribes. As you noticed, Gaikun may be a bit of a pervert/ladies man besides that he is skilled in something called the Kaze Style of fighting along with his dagger skills. Ness makes sure he doesn't get into trouble and is a very powerful fighter. Tsukiko thought the two were like a comic duo sometimes with what she had seen of them.
Tsukiko entered the kitchen as her stomach growled. "I'm starved. What's for breakfast?" She looked around to see no one was in the kitchen or any food laid out for breakfast. "Huh?" She picked up a note that was lying on the table. The note read: 'Slacker newbies who do not get up when they are suppose to get no free meal. XP' Tsukiko read and growled as she knew who wrote this.
Going out back to the small garden she spotted a girl with her back turned to Tsukiko as she watered the flowers. The girl's long light blue hair reached almost down to her knees and up close it was realized that the girl was merely waving her hands and the water from a nearby bucket went into the air and gently rained across the flowers. Tsukiko came up behind her holding the note in her hand.
"Where is he? I know he wrote this." She paused not getting a response. "Aurla are you listening?"
The girl snapped out of her daze as she turned around. "I'm sorry Tsukiko. Using my powers takes concentration." Her voice was soft and her expression was almost emotionless. Her skin was a pale shade Tsukiko nor anyone had ever seen before and her teal colored eyes made it noticeable, along with the small red gem that was on her forehead. Her name, Aurla Demore, age 16. Tsukiko thought she was really pretty and even though they were the same age Tsukiko envied that Aurla's bust size was a lot bigger than hers. Aurla tilted her head slightly as she noticed Tsukiko always looked a little strange when they were in each other's presence. "Tsukiko, what is wrong?" "Where is Gehn? I know he is the one that wrote this. Do you mean to tell me that breakfast starts at an earlier time?" Tsukiko Asked.
"Well, Gehn told everyone that wake up call this morning was 6am, breakfast was served at 6:15am and," She was interrupted by Tsukiko growling and storming off. "Oh dear."
Back inside Tsukiko went down the hall towards the elevator and hit the button. The doors opened and she went in pushing the B1 button. "He is going to so pay!" She said at the doors closed with a ding. The basement levels of the LDF. The top floors are for lounging, resting, and other things. The basement levels that lie below are where the members train and data is analyzed to help improve their battles. One of the members, besides Taru, works at the basement level day and night: Niles La'colle, age 500 years old. He is old but looks to be about 21 this is only because Niles is a vampire. He analyzes the Dreamers and Nightmare data that is collected and creates new techniques of fighting and other helpful things. Niles usually is found in front of the various screens of the super computer he works with and never has to sleep but does have to eat every once in a while of course. Other than that he never leaves the basement level.
As Tsukiko passed him while he looked at one of the screens he said, "Tsukiko-san, I need to analyze your fighting data soon. Please try to get into the training arena and do it or else I won't be able to help you when the real fighting begins." His voice was stern yet soft and the whole time her kept his eyes to the screen and typing rapidly on his keyboard.
Tsukiko stopped and looked back, blushing and replied "Oh, of course Niles. I promise I'll do it for you." She smiled hoping he would look her way but didn't. She felt her hope of ever catching his eye was impossible but she couldn't worry about that right now. "Niles, where's--"
"Training arena, which is where you should be heading." Niles said, as Tsukiko was already gone again. He sighed and went back to work.
The training arena basically says it all. Here is where the Dreamers train and improve their abilities and learn new ones with Niles data. Tsukiko entered the arena and looked around to see a male training at the other end. She crumbled the note and charged at him.
"Gehn you big jerk!" She yelled as she got closer. Before she could do anything the male turned around throwing what seemed hundreds of pieces of tiny paper at her. The swirled around her making her stop then formed together like a rope and wrapped around her causing her to fall at his feet. She looked up at him and struggled to get free.
"Don't interrupt me while I'm training, didn't I explain that to you yesterday?" He said crossing his arms and staring down at her with his brown eyes. His brownish orange hair was tied back into a small ponytail so it didnt get in the way when he trained with his ofuda.
"You jerk! You changed the wake up call. I was told that wake up call was 7am not 6." She said sitting up but still tied up. Gehn looked down at the note she had dropped and picked it up. "You wrote that didn't you?" Tsukiko demanded to know.
"Yeah I wrote it and I changed the wake up call starting today. You must not have gotten the memo last night." He said crumbling the paper back up like it was no big deal.
"Memo? I didn't get any memo last night. You did this on purpose cause now since there's an even number of us then you don't get to work solo anymore!" Tsukiko barked at him. Gehn looked down coldly at her and then began to walk off. "Hey, aren't you going to untie me?" Gehn ignored her and continued on his way.
Gehn Kousanagi, age 18. Considered one of the most experienced and stronger fighters of the LDF, before Tsukiko joined there was an uneven number of the team therefore Gehn would always work alone on missions and liked it that way. His skills with the ofuda are impressive since he can actually materialize items sometimes with them. Little is known about Gehn and he prefers to keep it to himself.
"He's a jerk!" Tsukiko said as she had gotten free when he was finally gone. The rope merely turned back into paper and fell to the ground. She sighed standing up and was startled when an alarm went off. "Nani?"
Niles voice came over the P.A. "Everyone, there's an emergency come to the B1 Level immediately." Soon everyone was gathered around Niles and his computer. "There's been reports of strange happenings downtown. It may be them, we need to move out right now if we want to catch them in time." Niles explained.
"Alright," Gehn said, "We'll go in two teams. Ness, Gaikun, you two will go together and take the underground route that should put you to where you can attack from behind."
"Gotcha." Ness said as her and Gaikun hurried off.
"Aurla, we're gonna need a forcefield around the area just in case so get ready. Taru, Kiton, you two stay here and monitor with Niles. I'm going on ahead." Gehn grabbed his dark blue trenchcoat and began to leave but Tsukiko went in front of him blocking his way.
"What about me?" She asked eagerly.
"You? You will stay here like a good little girl." He said moving her aside. "You're data hasn't been collected, we don't even know if you can actually fight."
Tsukiko's mouth gaped open. "That's so unfair Gehn. You just don't want to be partnered up with anyone. How do we know you can do this by yourself."
Gehn stopped and turned back towards her. "You listen here, I have been on this team longer than you and can do a lot more than you. I don't care if you are Zephie's sister, I don't believe you will help this team as good as she did. You're just a big annoyance so stay out of my way." With that he left getting on the elevator. Tsukiko's eyes began to tear up but she stopped herself and hung her head. Taru and Kiton were looking over at them watching the whole thing.
"Tsukiko,it'll be ok." Said Taru comforting Tsukiko. "Gehn always act like that. He has to be the hero."
"Well I'll show him!" Tsukiko said determinedly and stormed out getting on the elevator when it returned.
"Should we stop her?" Kiton asked Niles. Niles replied "If she is anything like her sister its best not to. Besides this may be interesting."
Taru looked over at them then back towards the closed doors of the elevator. "Tsukiko, be careful."
Tsukiko was running down the street towards her destination. I'll show him, I'll show them all that I am worthy of being apart of the Lucid Dreamers!
