China Mieville spins this beautiful story about where the broken things end up from our world. For London it goes to Un Lun Dun. Everything is original in this story. From the umbrullas to the villians you get this fantastic creative vibe.
Well its about Deeba and and Zanna when they end up in Un Lun Dun. Zanna is instantly involved in a great prophecy that fortells of her saving Un Lun Dun, but after many incidents things go wrong. (Don't want to give too much up.)
I loved this from the start. Characters include:
-Mr. Speaker, who creates Subjects from words
-Yorick Cavea who is a bird living in a bird cage on a human body
-Slaterunners who live on the roofs of Un Lun Dun
-Man eating Giraffes
and those are the minor characters.
Suggest to kids and adults who love new worlds. (Warning: get a British dictionary)
