Lonely Hearts
At the ocean slowly walking,
Near the waters edge I stand.
While the breeze blows ore my body,
I slide my fingers through the sand.
As a mist comes off the water,
I taste the salt upon my lips.
I see two children building castles,
In the distance passing ships.
I wonder why love can be like this,
Passing close but cannot touch.
I quickly think of something different,
To my heart this thoughts too much.
Sand crabs dance across the shoreline,
Into a hole, a fast retreat,
From their lair while closely watching,
As I pass they slip beneath.
Sea gulls glide across the water,
Their piping chord echoes to ring.
I realize my soul is empty,
With no love song it can sing.
The smell of freshness overwhelming,
The ocean green then turns to blue.
Down the shoreline I keep walking,
With a heart that breaks in two.
