Review Log
This will contain mostly reviews. I will keep spoilers to a minimum where possible, but I can't guarantee spoiler free.
I think pro tools may be what's really wrong with pop music these days. Once upon a time a song might be good or it might suck or just merely be mediocre, but one way or another, pop singers generally had to actually be good at singing. (There were a couple of exceptions here and there, but really, the vast majority of them really could sing, like the style or not). now, they seem to just pick good looking people and pitch correct until the voices are generic and electronic flat. It adds to a boring sameness that makes it hard to tell one voice from another.

I dislike new country as a genre, but I once had a factory job in the mid '90's where they blasted it over the sound of the machinery all shift so we all had to listen. It was a style of music I dislike, but the voices were distinct. That little Leann Rhymes may have been only in her mid teens, but she could really sing. Again, not music I'd pick on my own, but I can say with real feeling her first album (the only one I'm familiar with) was freaking stunning. It was stunning because of her voice was so lovely and unique and nuanced and rich.

I think something has really been lost here. Sure, there are still some pop singers who can actually sing, but so much of it is flattened nigh identical mush, which is fine for people who like that, I suppose, but I like each voice to be different, each style to be just a little bit special.
