OK, normally I wouldn't do this, take my problems to the internet where anyone can see or anything. But seriously, I need to rant.
So, this lady sitting next to us in the computer lab (the LOUDER of the computer labs, mind you) is complaining about noise. So, my friend, JUST TRYING TO BE HELPFUL tells her about a quieter lab. She was VERY polite. The lady then launches into a quite irritating rant about her "disability". A) She says she's going blind, but her computer screen is perfectly normal sized (it's an ADA computer, so it can be viewed much larger). She could use ANY COMPUTER, but she can't WALK because she might trip! Yet she can walk over to the printer just fine. Besides, if she can see text that size without leaning in, she can at least see well enough to walk around. Like my friend pointed out, how else does she take classes here? Does she even have a disability? I know it's not my place, but... And, B) Seriously, does having a disability of any sort give you the right to be rude? She was acting as though the fact she had to use the ADA computer made her superior to us, like she had the right to treat us however she wanted. It was very irritating... And the worst part was, SHE WOULDN'T SHUT UP. No joke. She complains about noise, then bothers us for several minutes while she rants. I finally had enough of her, so I turned around and said, "Look, lady, she was just trying to be helpful, so drop it, will ya?" (or something along those lines, anyway). What does she do? She ignores me completely, the one who was actually being somewhat rude, and blames it on my friend! Seriously, I wanted to hit the woman. People like that seriously piss me off. They act so entitled, and assume everyone is being rude to them if they don't agree with them. Granted, I act that way occasionally, but only on accident. I was a spoiled rotten only child, so I have a lot of mental problems. But I always try to stop myself! But then there's people like that, who don't even try...
Thank GOD she left before I got really pissed. Thank God for my meds.
