The house was full like always. Laughter screams of help, and loud footsteps echoed through the cold stone hallways of the modern castle we call home. See even a castle was almost too small for our large family.
My adopted father, Dani Warwien, loves children not being able to have any himself. After building his empire in the music industry he decided to start a family. Thirteen kids later he had a sanctum for orphans. Each one of us with our own unique story and personality.
I lay still on my bed listening to my breath, putting no thought what just happened. Did Vadeed go to his room I thought, but before I could place my feet on the floor. The door flew open, “I don’t understand what just happened.” Vadeed spoke with concern as he paced back and forth. “Me neither.” I replied as I stood to my feet nervously shoving my hands into my pockets. I headed towards the door. I really didn’t want to talk about what just happened. I wanted to just thank of it as a nightmare I could forget.
Over the next couple of weeks to follow Vadeed and I never really talked about what happened that night. It was like a forgotten dream, but it also seemed to bring us closer. We almost never parted. It was like the world was only turning for us.
Until one day we were sitting on the porch. I was leaning up against the pillar reading Edgar Allen Poe my favorite author. Vadeed was laying at the base of my feet playing the guitar listening to the words. The wrinkles between his eyes told me he was trying to understand the story. When I overheard my dad talking to one of my baby bothers Julian. “I really don’t see them much maybe a glimpse here and there.” My dad spoke with an uneasy tone as if he was about to cry. Julian smiled as he placed his hand on dads shoulder. “I can still hear them playing their guitars ever once in awhile.”
I looked down to see If Vadeed had heard the conversation. “Something is wrong Davi I can feel it.” He said. “I know.” I replied. At that time, I realized that we didn’t completely make it out of that mansion that night. I was sure Vadeed was sharing the same thoughts. I looked at him trying not to make complete eye contact. I fought the tears back, “you don’t think.” But before I could finish he smiled and said, “Davi, everything well be ok I promise.”
