Things on my Mind
Just a little fanfic I wrote. Hope you enjoy.

Lloyd let a out a big yawn an opened his eyes expecting to be blinded by the light of the sun. To his surprise there was no sun at all. It was still night. Three in the morning to be exact. It felt strange to the swordsman who was so used to getting up at noon. He was wide awake and looked out the window. Maybe some fresh air would do the trick. Said swordsman grabbed his red jacket and gloves, careful not to wake the sleeping mercenary on the other side of the room. Lloyd put his boots on and quietly slipped out of the room, down the small flight of stairs of the Luin inn. He decided to go over to the fountain where the newly built statue of himself stood.

Kratos awoke from his light yet unneeded sleep and gazed across the room. Something was different. It was silent…too silent. He didn’t hear the obnoxious snoring of his son. It was then he noticed Lloyd was missing. The thought of Lloyd being kidnapped and killed weighed heavily on the mercenary’s mind. Kratos bolted out of his bed and out of the inn to search the city for his son.

He gazed into the clear night sky, being lost in his subconscious memories. He longed to be with both his parents looking at the stars again. The swordsman’s eyes misted over making him look like in was in some sort of trance. Lloyd’s body slumped sideways as he began to lose focus on everything around him. He didn’t know why but the darkness felt so good to him. He surrendered to the darkness. Then everything went black.

The mercenary’s angelic hearing picked up what sounded to be a thud. He made his way to the fountain where he had heard the noise. Kratos thought it was nothing more than a small animal. He couldn’t have been more wrong. The purple clad mercenary made his way where had saw a figure slumped down on the ground. His eyes grew wide when he saw who the figure was.

“Lloyd!” Kratos gasped.

He ran over to his son and checked his vitals. The mercenary sighed in relief. His son was alive and breathing. Kratos rolled Lloyd on his back and started shaking him gently.

“Lloyd, wake up.” he whispered.

“-oyd…”

“Lloyd…you…ave……ake up…”

“…ease….wake…”

Lloyd let out a slight moan, incoherently mumbling something. Kratos looked down at the boy as he stirred ever so slightly.

“Lloyd…Open your eyes.” Kratos muttered.

He did as told. Slowly he cracked his eyes only to shut them again due to blinding light. The starts were gone. The sun was out, not a clouds to be seen.

“Where-…” Lloyd weakly began but was cut off by his father.

“You’re inside. At the Luin Inn. I found you unconscious at the city plaza last night” Kratos stated.

Lloyd simply nodded and fell into a deep sleep.

The sun was high in the sky. Kratos had informed Raine on what had occurred last night and agreed to stay in Luin for another day. Genis and Colette were trying to make their way into their friend’s room only to be scolded by Raine saying that Lloyd needed his space to rest.. Sheena was anxiously pacing back and forth in the inn’s lobby, worried about her crush. Regal and Presea were discussing what might be plaguing Lloyd’s body. Raine and Kratos were in Lloyd’s room keeping an eye on him in case anything changed. Lloyd slept peacefully and tossed lightly to his side. His father reached out and feathered his hair gently.

“Raine…If you don’t mind, I’d like to be alone with Lloyd for a while.” Kratos said, not looking away from his precious son.

There was a brief moment of silence before she answered.

“Alright…But come get me should anything go wrong.” she stated.

Kratos simply nodded and watched as Raine left.

A few hours passed when Lloyd finally began to regain consciousness.

“Lloyd…?” Kratos muttered.

“…D..ad…?” Lloyd forced out slowly.

Lloyd slowly opened his eyes looking toward his father and smiled softly. And surprisingly, Kratos smiled back.

“I guess I was really tired…How long was I sleeping?” Lloyd questioned, letting out a big yawn.
Kratos eyed his son with concern.

“Lloyd, you were not sleeping…You were unconscious.” the mercenary explained still keeping an eye on his son.

“Oh…How long was I out?” the red clad swordsman asked.

“Several hours.” Kratos stated. “Why did you go outside at such an ungodly hour? And without your swords at that? You could have been attacked. You could have been killed..”

“…” Lloyd was at a loss for words. He’d never seen Kratos act this….fatherly.

“Well…?” Kratos asked, giving his son a stern look.

“I couldn’t sleep okay? I thought some fresh air would make me tired. I guess it worked a little too well, huh?” Lloyd said sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his neck.

“Hmm…I see. I guess you should inform your friends that you’re alright.” Kratos said, helping the boy sit up.

“Yeah, You’re probably right. I bet they’re all worried about me.” Lloyd smiled and got up.

He was about to leave the room when suddenly, a hand grabbed the boy’s wrist.

“Huh..?”

Lloyd was caught off guard and had no time to react as he was pulled into his father’s embrace.

“Don’t ever worry me like that again or you’re grounded.” Kratos said sternly but was also joking around.

“Ummm…I love you too Dad…?” Lloyd said sheepishly, snuggling into his father’s arms.
