I've come to the conclusion that Gaia is trying to push it's populace to using Gaia cash. Well I have a huge miff about this.
Certainty there's only 3 ways to get Gaia cash:
1) Buy a gaia cash card at stores that carry it.
2) Complete online offers.
3) Credit card over the internet.
I'm fine with the cards. I've no miffed about those rather that I can't afford them right now what with gas prices going up and a sucky economy, but what I do have an issue with is that you can get more gaia cash simply by filling out offers with your personal information or giving them your credit card humber. I've 3 very great reasons as to why this is flawed.
Reason one: The internet is not as safe as people thing. Some where in the world an identity is being stolen. Every second someone's life is ruined some how because something leaked their personal information. Key loggers, viruses, hackers, etc. all exist folks. Not everything can be stopped by your computer's anti-virus or what ever. Why would you even bother to give your name, phone number, and address out to anyone.
Reason two: SPAM! Sure they're legit sites and all, but seriously come on! All i ever hear about people and their internet is about how much spam they get. Well here's how to put a stop too it instead of having 40 different emails and having to remember 50 different passwords. DON'T SIGN UP FOR ADDS! Not only that but it will cut down on the number of crap you get in the mail, the telemarketer phone calls (they do ask for phone numbers and your address folks.) But also the number of useless emails that people tend to send.
Reason three: There's got to be some way that you can take down the credit numbers. Like I stated before a lot of key trackers can easily be loaded onto a computer. Paypal and all those other sites are fine and dandy until someone has your account numbers because they have a key tracker or a worm. If Gaia really wanted to make it safe then why not give them a number to call instead? Unless someone has tapped your phone line or you're on a party line, it's actually a lot harder to get information from someone over the phone. Personally I hate buying anything on line with my debit card because my main bank's supplier for pin and card numbers, got HACKED into through legit web site adds. My card number was stolen among thousands of others and I had to get a new card and pin. I came so close to getting a bad credit score cause I ordered a pizza on line.
My other miff about Gaia cash is what about us guys who still have gold and don't want to put our money into cash, yet want to get fish for our aquariums (Which i hate that game) Or stuff from zOMG?? Why does it only have to be in CASH! It's like your awarding the new comers who have cash cards and not us who've been around since this sight started by giving only the people with cash a shop? I want fish too but I can't afford to go out and buy a cash card! It's 50 bucks for a 50 gaia cash card. 50 bucks that goes towards paying for medical bills and food. I doubt my family can afford to splurge on a useless point card! It's Outrageous! I don't eve by aeon or nexion or ddo cards because the prices are STUPID. Either make them affordable or give us gold users a choice like you do in the other stores? Is that too much to ask?
Seriously this place as all come onto how to turn a profit. I've considered leaving because it's going to become something that I have to pay for in order to be "cool" cause I'll have forked out hundreds of dollars to cash cards, giving my information out on the internet, and filling my in box with virus riddled spam, just so I can by a gold fish, or a cool looking avatar set.
This is getting stupid.
Make it so getting Gaia cash isn't so hard. How about doing what other sites do. Offer us a way to make Gaia cash simply by playing the game. How about doing quests where you get Gaia cash as a reward. And I mean you can set it so its a low start. Like 5 gaia cash for such and such or 2 for doing this and that. Or how about a bank where we can exchange our gold for gaia cash? How's that working out then hmm? How about in the market you can sell things for cash as well? That way we can earn the gaia cash and make this place fun again!
