Man, Rave loved her job.

The night was restless, the city was loud and crowded. Wasn't very surprising, really. It was always like this. A young girl was staring over the city life, her legs swinging carelessly while people looked up nervously at her. She wondered why in books they said that the night was quiet and calm, when behold, a busy nightlife lay before her. She leaned back, pushing her away from the dangerous edge. The stars were prettier than the city lights, for sure.

"Excuse me Rave, I know you're having a good time and yeah, but you have a job to do."

Slightly annoyed, she grabbed her earpiece a little too hard and it fell off. It skidded across the pavement. Praying that she didn't damage it, she walked over and grabbed it. "Robbie, wasn't listening. You were saying?"

"I knew you threw it, Rave! Again!"

"Did not."

"Did too!"

"Did not." She insisted, and turned off the earpiece. Like she needed his guidance. She'd been doing this plenty of times. She wouldn't mess up. No way. She hadn't messed up since she was fourteen. And that's when she started this whole business. She got up, and examined the city night lights for the last time, then she pressed a button on her black backpack and soared across the buildings, feeling free.

Rave examined the buildings that laid before her carefully, making sure that she landed on the right one. If she landed on the wrong one, she would have to recharge her wings for about thirty minutes. And she didn't have the patience or time for that. Huge satellite. She reminded herself, and nodded to the building that was up ahead. She dived a bit lower, getting closer. Finally she moved herself upright and deactivated her wings. Slowly she floated on the roof gracefully. "Better than yesterday!" Rave said cheerfully, thinking about that painful memory of falling on her bottom when she tried to land.

"Very true, Rave, very true." Rob laughed. Rave wanted to punch the loser square in the face.

"When did I say you could talk again?" She groaned, irritated with him again.

"I think you forgot that I can turn on your earpiece." Rob laughed, while Rave made her way to the door that would lead downstairs. She sighed and decided not to say anything, since it would make her distracted because of him.

The door slowly creaked open, and she was unsurprised to find a sleeping guard. He was a little on the heavy side, and that was typical. For some strange reason, people kept thinking that no one in their right mind would break in through the roof. She grinned to herself as she tip toed past, and the guard grunted and woke up. "Ah! Excuse me. I'm just going to break in your building, and steal something, something that doesn't belong to you, okay?" She explained sweetly, a hand in her pocket.

The guard grunted and got up from the floor, advancing towards her. He held a gun, which looked like he had no clue how to handle. He wore a face that showed that he was trying to be menacingly, when actually he looked kind of constipated. Trying not to laugh, Rave grinned instead. "Okay, look," she backed away towards the wall, "how about you don't hurt me, I get what I wanted, I leave, and everyone's happy!"

Another grunt.

"..well, except you. But its all about me right now, right?"

The guard charged at her, completely forgetting about his gun. She smiled and shrugged. "Hey, I tried," and pulled out a gun. "Nighty night, sweetie." A dart hit the guard straight in the forehead. Rave quietly walked past him.

"Sorry, didn't mean to hit you there. Well, that'll hurt once you wake up, huh?"

She opened the next door, sliding the gun in her pocket.

After a few good minutes she had knocked out every guard on the top floor. She sighed as she reached into her backpack to grab more darts and reloaded her sleek, silver gun. "Stupid thing. Why can't you have a bunch of these?"

"Ask dad."

Rave rolled her eyes. "Boss." She corrected, walking through the dimly lit hallway. The stairs were not too far ahead, remembering the 3d presentation that was shown before she was set out on her mission.

'Boss' was Rob's dad, but Rave loved calling him Boss. She lived with Rob and Boss, but wasn't related to them. She was found on the street in a tiny little basket which was totally cliche according to Rave, with a picture of a woman nestled on the bottom of the basket. It was obvious that this was her mother, since they looked so much alike. Rave kept this picture always in her backpack, since it seemed to give her guidance.

Smiling at the thought, she fingered the photograph, remembering the picture of her mother. She was happy that her mother had left something for her. Then she closed the backpack, and headed downstairs. Her blue boots were making a click-clack sound as she cautiously moved across the hallway, her gun still in her pocket. She seemed to feel nervous, which meant something powerful was up ahead than the sleeping guards littered across the floor upstairs.

"Erm...mind checking the floor I'm on?" Rave muttered, the darkness starting to creep her out.

"Sure. Just a second," Rave could hear some typing and some nervous tapping "I'm afraid there are two guards just up ahead with some voltages."

Voltages. Super painful and powerful guns. Rave wasn't even able to handle them. Breathing deeply, Rave did not respond to Rob's warning and entered a broom closet that was strangely convenient. Rave flicked on the lights and the closet seemed to be safe after checking it quickly, and she turned off the lights, eliminating any reason for suspicion. Like..a random teenager hiding in there. No one suspect that. Right? Right.

Rave felt around her backpack, stroked the picture a bit, and found what she was looking for. A small package of darts. They weren't like the other ones, these were more deadlier, able to kill a person rather than sending them into a deep slumber. They had the ability to stun someone, but the chance of killing them was slightly higher. Normally she hated using these, with killing being morally wrong and all that, but voltages? She'd rather kill/painfully stun the other party than being killed herself.

Sighing, she loaded the black darts with a red skull and crossbones design into the gun. She prayed that it wouldn't kill them, and prayed she wouldn't get killed. Oh, if only villains would just give stuff back. It would make her job easier.

Wait - she wouldn't have a job, then.

Snickering, she opened the door and stepped back into the hallway. She peeked around the corner, spying on the guards that were holding their guns loosely. Maybe she had a shot at this. Just in case, she actually had added two silver normal darts in the gun.

The guards were having conversation, and were guarding a room, which Rave guessed contained the document that she had to retrieve. Feeling sweat on her forehead, she decided to listen closely to the conversation.

"Umm hey, so you watched Spongebob last night, right?"

Excuse me..? Rave thought, resisting the urge to slap her forehead in embarrassment. She was about to kill an idiot that still watched Spongebob? She decided to listen more.

"Huh? Oh, er, yeah. I did. That was funny, when Spongebob and Patrick were trying to um, what?"

"Work for Squidward." The tone was flat coming from the other guard, and rather stern. Strange, why would you have a stern tone when you're talking about a stupid kid's show? Rave shrugged off the idea. Must be some crazy Spongebob fan.

After having enough of the dumb conversation, she got up and was about the shoot the two darts, she was suddenly consumed in darkness and she felt a sharp pain in her neck. "Well, that'll hurt once you wake up, huh?" She heard someone said mockingly, and that was the last thing she heard before passing out.

And hopefully find another job that doesn't include getting beat up by teenagers. D:
