Greetings and salutations to all those out in Gaia-land that happen to stumble across this journal. Once upon a time, many moons ago, I had a different Gaia account that I barely touched and quickly abandoned. At this point I don't even remember what the name was, though I'm sure if I cared at all I could figure it out.
If anyone happens to find what I have to say interesting or amusing or any number of other emotions sentences strung together can and often do elicit I will
warn you now: The chances of me updating on anything even remotely close to a regular basis are pretty slim. Then again... Well, maybe not. We'll see. I'm practically attached at the fingertips to LiveJournal but since I made this account a couple days ago I'm finding it rather difficult to tear myself away.

This is the part of the post where I unleash my inner geek and explain the origins of my username!
blaugh I am a super huge fan of the mega-awesome 80s cartoon "Jem" (I'm not going to explain the plot or anything right now because as of this moment I have been awake for roughly 30 hours & I'm just a weeeeeee bit too tired to feel like it so
xp But if you're curious and you ask nicely I'll tell you all about it). My username is a combination of two supporting characters in the series:

She is a magician and illusionist who makes it her business to debunk frauds in her spare time. She's also an expert on Harry Houdini.

aka Giselle Dvorak
She's a magnificent dancer (like you couldn't figure that out from her stage name
rofl ) who just so happens to be the daughter of a famous Yugoslavian ballerina (remember folks, this was the 80s; before Yugoslavia split into Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Slovenia, Serbia, Macedonia, and Montenegro). However, her mother died when she was very young and due to some meddling from an overzealous and possessive dance instructor, she never knew her father. And so, Danse grew up as a foster girl. She volunteers at a shelter/half-way home for runaways as her way of giving back to the system that raised her.
Astral only appeared in one episode, but I always thought she was pretty cool. Plus I loved her costumes and how tenacious she was in her endeavor to prove Rapture as the fraud she was and thereby save a rich and vulnerable old woman from losing all her money to Rapture & her lies. And though she was disgusted with Rapture's behavior, when the silly little thing got into her charade way over her head, Astral's good heart wouldn't allow her to be harmed and she rescued her. That's what made her memorable to me.
Danse was slightly more prolific and therefore we learned more about her and grew attached to her. Danse is really one of my favorite non-Holograms/Misfits/Stingers characters. The song that Jem & the Holograms perform when they first meet Danse and watch
her perform (what I call her "image song"
wink , 'Only Me and the Music', is also one of my all-time favorite Jem & the Holograms songs.
And there you have it folks. My first entry and the origin of my username. I shall now leave you with an extra bit o' trivia: The subject of this entry is also the title of the very first episode of "Jem".
