Ive been trying to get back into the groove of things with my art. Some days I can dish out really nice stuff, others I feel soo unbelievably amateur. Ive been drawing since I was five and some days I feel like I'm back where I started.
So I write a lot of little stories and one in particular has a nice group of characters and I decided to draw two of them. They are a couple and I wanted something romantic.
I have to say that I was looking at a manga (my usual references) and was like "They would look so cute in that pose!" I try to draw it on my own but sometimes things get way out of porportion.
So I ended up tracing basic shapes of the bodies to see how they would be in general. (My anatomy can be off sometimes, and I'm driven crazy when things are turned a certain way and I only see that "it doesn't look right" even when it is. So I tend to look in manga's for the best examples of what Ive been trying to do all along.
After that I used a lamp and a clear clip board (Makeshift lightboard wahhooo!) to trace over the trace several times to draw in the body, then the clothes, the hair, the faces, and so on until the characters where just how I wanted them to be. Then I inked and colored.
For the background I went outside and plucked up some Ivy to reference and draw in the vines. I colored those over the background color and inked them after I colored.
Then I scanned it into the gimp, used some of the fancy thingamabobs and viola!!!!
Behold!!
I still think it doesnt look right but my sis said it turned out right.
