Katsume walked the halls during lunchtime with a granola bar in her hand, looking for a place of quiet so she could sit, think, and eat. It was her first day at Ouran Academy High School and she was less than happy to be there alone. She looked at her phone quickly to see what time it was. “Only 12:32, it feels like I’ve been here a week already…” She sighed and looked up at a sign above a quiet looking room that read “Music Room 3” and decided that was the best place to escape to, it being a MUSIC room and all. She had on the boys uniform for the school, there was no WAY in hell she was wearing that gaudy, yellow, ugly a** dress for 4 years and she decided not to take P.E. so they wouldn’t b***h at her for it. She had short black hair and jade green eyes and looked like a boy for the most part, the only way you could tell she was a girl was from her somewhat feminine face, and about medium sized breasts.
She walked into the room and it was empty, she let out a relieved sigh and sat on the floor in the side of the room near the door, just incase she had to leave quickly, with her back resting against the wall. She pulled out a note pad and pencil, plus her MP3 player and turned it on, setting her acoustic guitar on the floor next to her and popping the headphone buds into her ears to turn it up full blast. Keeping an eye on the time, she started writing a song on the notepad. She hadn’t gotten much sleep the night before and eventually dozed off.
The Next thing she knew she felt a tap on her shoulder, shaking her awake. She warily looked up into the Amethyst colored eyes of a tall blonde boy she knew had to be another student by his uniform. “Hey, are you alright?” He asked. She snapped up, startled, and grabbed her bag, notepad and guitar, “Yeah, sorry, I came in here for some quiet, I didn’t realize I wasn’t suppose to be in here. I’ll be leaving now. I have to get to class anyway.” She said hastily walking towards the door, not noticing there was more than one person in the room. “But classes are over for the day, schools out now…” Said the blonde that had woken her up. She stopped cold in her tracks and turned, staring stupidly back at him. “O-over…s**t, I missed EVERYTHING. I’m gunna get my a** kicked this time for sure.” She ranted to herself, frantically.
“If you don’t mind my asking, how much did you miss?” Asked the blonde. “Lets see…” she thought. “I came in here at around lunch time...” She was calculating the amount of time in her head when she finally realized that there were more people in the room than just her and the blonde guy.
“Oh.” She said stupidly, looking around. There were 6 guys and a girl in the room. Two blondes, one tall and one looking like a 5th grader, 2 black haired guys, one with glasses and one tall and muscular looking, 2 red headed twins and 1 brown haired girl also in a boys uniform. The girl seemed to be looking at her sympathetically while everyone else just looked confused or bored.
“Wait a minute, I know who you are!” Said the tall blonde suddenly. “You’re the commoner that got into this school on a music scholarship, right?” He said obviously hoping he was right. “Yes, I am…” She said, feeling all 7 pairs of eyes on her.
“Well, then you must be pretty good to have gotten into THIS school.” She rolled her eyes at what he was saying. “I love music, it’s my life, the fact that I’m good at it isn’t really THAT important. And the only reason I’m here is because my dad made me come here. I really just want to do music and forget about school.” She said sounding kind of bored. “But my dad wouldn’t go for that, in fact he’d probably yell at me for just mentioning it.” She said quickly glancing at the bruise on her arm from the last time she mentioned it to her father while he was drunk, but then snapping her eyes back up to look at the people in front of her.
“Why would he do that if its what you want more?” The brown haired girl chimed in. “Uh, he just wants me to stay in school.” Katsume said sounding evasive. “Why do you wear the male uniform if you’re obviously a girl?” Asked the red headed twins in unison, suddenly. Katsume felt like she was in an interrogation and she didn’t have time to stay and chat or she would get hell from her dad…if he wasn’t drunk already today. “Uh, I don’t really like the female uniform and I LIKE guy clothes…and why are you asking, when your friend with the brown hair is doing the same thing.” Everyone’s eyes widened at that for some reason. “You mean you can tell she's a girl?” Said the tall blonde and the twins in unison. “Duh, I do the same thing and also look kinda boy-ish, so I know when someone else does it.” She said speaking as if it should be obvious.
“What’s your name?” Said the tall blonde in an anticipant tone. “Katsume Ookami,” Katsume said, sounding bored now. “And I need to go, I’ll have my dad on my a** if I don’t get home soon.” She said, turning away, sounding like she didn’t REALLY want to leave, but knowing she had to. “Wait, Milady.” Said the tall blonde from behind her. “Come back here after school tomorrow if you can, I would like to speak to you some more. My Name is Tamaki Suoh” The blonde smiled, finally introducing himself. And after that everyone else did. The brown haired girl’s name was “Haruhi Fujioka”; the small blonde boys name was “Mitskuni Hunninozuka” or “Hunny” for short. The muscular black haired boy’s name was “Takeshi Morinozuka” or “Mori” for short, the one with the glasses’s name was Kyouya Oohtori , and the red headed twins names were “Hikaru” and “Kaoru.” “Damn that’s a lot of names to remember.” Katsume thought as she walked home the few blocks to her house. Sure enough her father was drunk already and lying on their couch in their livingroom with a bottle of whiskey in his hand, asleep. She snuck past him as quietly as she could and got to her room, closing and locking the door behind her.
She finished the song she was writing and snuck out to grab a quick dinner, then did her homework while listening to music and went to bed early (9:00 p.m.), as she usually did, but especially that she was exhausted from her first day of school. At about 1:00 a.m. her phone rang loudly, waking her up. She picked it up from her bedside table and looked at the caller ID. It was her boyfriend, “Kaname Raiden.” She rolled her eyes and answered the phone in an irritated tone, “What the hell do you want this late, I was asleep.” She said as pissed off and icily as possible. She’d wanted to break up with him for a long time now but couldn’t bring herself to actually do it. “Hey, sexy, don’t get mad I just wanted to talk.” He was drunk, as usual, that much was obvious. Why were all the men in her life drunk assholes? She thought to herself. “Well I don’t want to talk I want to sleep, I’ll call you tomorrow.” Katsume growled and hung up the phone, setting it to ignore all calls and going back to sleep. The next morning she woke up slightly later than she should have and hurried to get ready for school, seeing that her father was already gone to work.
She, amazingly, got to school on time and went to her first class, recognizing three of the people sitting in the back of the room. It was the brown haired girl, “Haruhi Fujioka” and the red haired twins “Hikaru” and “Kaoru.” Though she really couldn’t tell the two apart at all. She was in most of the required freshmen classes, so that meant at least half of them would be with these three. Haruhi walked up to Katsume and held out her hand. “Hi, we met yesterday, I’m Haruhi, remember? Sorry about the guys, they can be a bit…. much.” Katsume took Haruhi’s hand for a handshake. “Yes, I remember…surprisingly.” She said honestly. Then she felt a presence on either side of her and looked from side to side for a moment, it was the twins. “Well now, this is the new girl, ‘Katsume,’ right?” They smirked as they said it in unison, looking like they were plotting something. “Yeah…” She said warily. “Don’t mind them, they’re just messing around.” Haruhi said, giving the twins a “don’t even think about doing anything” glare.
She went through all of her classes for the first time; secretly glad she had somewhat made a few friends, or alteast one for sure. She liked that “Haruhi” girl, and figured she was probably the most decent one of the ones she had talked to so far. After school, she figured she’d just take the crap from her dad for staying late if she got any and went to Music Room 3 again. She opened the door and there was all 7 of the people she’d met yesterday, looking at her again. “Welcome, princess.” Said Tamaki, the tall blonde one. She didn’t really like being called princess, but let it go just this once.
