Endless Night Chapter 1: Encounter
The night was calm, silent, serene…I hated it. It reminded me of the night that my life changed forever…literally. It all started in my senior year in high school. I was popular in school, easygoing, and proud of my beautiful girlfriend who later turned out to have a major secret that she should have told me about months ago.
She was the type of girl who was silent but usually spoke her mind when you got to know her. I loved how you could read her facial expressions easily when you knew her well though sadly, I didn’t know her enough to foresee that terrible night. She always made good grades though her standing with her parents wasn’t the best in the world but that’s for another story. I first met her in the beginning of my Senior year during break; I was entranced by her shiny black hair and her doting smile. She gave people around her a feeling of content.
After that encounter, I had decided to pursue her even if it meant that she wouldn’t like me. At first she would always turn her back away from me as if she was scared or uncertain of me and I thought maybe she heard the vicious rumors of me. The rumors claimed I beat up someone behind the school for not moving out of my way but I simply got irritated at them and stomped past them while accidentally brushing past their shoulder. Apparently this was not the best way to start my year in high school though little did I realize how fast rumors could spread. So I pondered and found it difficult to explain to her that the rumors were not true.
Days later I found out that she was nervous in front of me instead of being scared of me. This made me glad because I now know that she doesn’t believe the rumor which makes liking her easier. I sighed when my best friend Ryan Lavoy had told me the story. Ryan had always been my best friend ever since the first time we played Halo 3 together and he helped me improve in sport activities. He was a cool guy and he was usually extremely laid back unless you got him ticked off which was the mistake I made when I commented that World of Warcraft was better than Halo 3. Back then, I hadn’t realized that video games were a touchy subject for him. The result being that he ignored me for a whole week and then I apologized to him for my comment.(a week being the time it took me to figure out why he was mad)
On Monday, i decided to go talk to her. "Hey Sabrina." I smiled though she turned her back towards me, I questioned how nervous was she really. i thought maybe she hated me already. "Um...how are you?..." She turned around to face me and stared back at me with her puzzled puppy like eyes. "...i'm fine...um...who are you?" it shocked me that she didn't know me considering i was popular in school but i answered anyways. "I'm Kyle Eaton, nice to meet you." i continued to smile at her despite my fidgety self. I had always admired Sabrina Howlin from afar and it caused me mixed feelings to finally have the guts to greet her. Happiness since she now knows my name at least and sorrow knowing that perhaps i was raising my hopes too high...to the point of no return if they were dashed.
**tell me what you think of it so far!^^
