Kane Winter, head researcher at the LEVIATHAN research industry had been working on bringing the dead to life. He was assigned this by Lord Cutler, the CEO of LEVIATHAN. Unfortunately there was no way around the 'zombification' trait the undead received. Even after life was restored, their skin continued to rot, but their hearts still beat. They are still reduced to primal instinct. They must feed. In certain circumstances, feed on eachother. However another odd trait of the 'zombification' was their bodily fluids had the ability to affect others to the point of 'zombification'. Research revealed this cause to be a toxin. A toxin that killed anything alive, then brought it back under the 'zombification' trait.
He entered the main research lab, the armed guards closing the mechanical door behind him. He sat at the main computer where his assistant Rachel was standing overlooking status reports. Kane sighed. "How are they doing?" He asked her. Rachel squinted at the screen. "They aren't eating eachother if that's what your asking."
"A good sign I suppose" Kane replied. He sat next to her and typed the lockdown process initiation. Doors were reinforced with titanium air locks and the lights went out in the containment rooms. He looked at Rachel and told her "We are off tonight. The secondary profs have the nightshift."
"Well I believe i'll go to bed then. I'm utterly exhausted." Rachel spoke. Kane nodded and let her leave. He sat staring at the computer for a while. What would he do tonight? He sighed and stood up. He opened the door and the guards locked down the room and escorted Kane to the Central Room, where all the other employees worked. Everyone shuffled busily about, minding their own business.
Off tonight? Only thing I can use time for in this place is sleeping. Kane thought. He sat at his own desk in the room and turned the computer on. He played a few games of Minesweeper and Spider Solitare and then sat back in his chair and sighed again. His thoughts wondered once again to Rachel. He liked her of course, but there was work that kept them apart. He had no idea how she felt about him. She was a co-worker, that would probably never change.
Kane proceeded down the halls to his dorm room. When he heard gunshots, he thought the worse. "They escaped" He muttered to himself. He drew the pistol from his belt and ran towards the noise. The gunshots were accompanied by frenzied screaming and some growling. Kane opened the door. First Mistake. There was a giant hold in the wall where it had collapsed. Three soldiers were getting torn apart by the beasts while two tried their best to shoot them off. Kane went to raise his gun then one had jumped on him.
It's face was disgusting as blood was dripping from it's mouth. It raised a hand to claw at Kane. He punched it and it shook it's head and reared beck again. Kane now had the space to shoot it. So he put the gun to it's head and shot. It fell over and Kane recovered. The last two soldiers were about to be dinner. Kane exited and closed the door, locking it. He heard beating against the door. He went to the nearest alarm module and pulled it. The siren rang. KAne ran to find Rachel...
