DIY: iPod, How hard could it be?
Good Morning.

In my last journal I believe I was talking about my iPod, well looking into I could do it myself since I have a model that can be easily fixed but I can't help ask myself if it would be wise on my part.
It has been six years since I've torn apart a computer and rebuilt it, but one lesson I learned is not to relay on a drawing of the specs but to actually take pictures which in turn is more helpful in my view.
I still plan on buying a new iPod instead of sending it in for a $200 repair which I believe is outrageous just for a headphone jack being replaced, plus buying a new one will give me more GB's which means I can have all of current podcast on it.

I think I'll give it a shot on repairing it as a fun little thing to do, plus if I can fix my old iPod maybe I'll get more confidence in myself that I can do alot.

Since I'm on the subject of computers now, I think I'll take another computer repair class so I can be brushed up on whats new or has changed since I took it in high school, if I can do good in that then I'll go out and get my A+ certification which would allow me to be an actual Computer Tech and make some money on the side repairing computers and built new ones. ^^

Now that we're on the subject of repairs, I will more or less have to send my cell phone in for a repair.
I've only had the phone for about six months and the little charger chip came out so now I have to play with the little to get it back in so it can charge.
Today I plan to call them and ask what they will do about it since my phone is still under warranty I believe.
My cell is actually one of my life lines, it keeps me in touch with friends, family, & work.

Well I think I've said what's currently on my mind but I feel I'll have more to add later after I get back from work.

Good luck with the repair and, wow, rebuilding computers! I've always been amazed with that for some reason. Maybe it's no big deal nowadays. I dunno. I think it's soo handy to have that knowledge. Wish I knew how to repair my OLD laptop screen! The light burnt out long ago. ugh

$200?! That IS outrageous! Usually they don't repair ipods anymore but they just give you another ipod at a reduced price. I use to have the old ipod mini (before all the nanos came out thereafter) and the battery kept dying so I wanted to repair it (a shame that all the songs were erased! They were some of my favorites!) So I went to the Mac store in the mall. He said that they just replace the old ipods (especially the old minis since they were discontinued) but it still cost $70. :/ arg. I gave it to my brother and he lost it or something. wtf.

But I have a nano now. It's cute but...srsly, where's my mini again? XD The nano is suppose to hold 1000 songs but...it also depends on the size of the song and not the amount that can fit on it. So I have less than 1000 and it's full. ah well.
