Lector
By Marc Monroy

It was in the midst of March. I was with a friend at in my front yard. We were going to watch a movie. The movie we were going to watch was Hannibal Rising. It was a scary movie. It was worse than the first Hannibal movie. When I went in to go to bed I couldn’t go to sleep. After a few hours I finally fell asleep. When I woke up I wasn’t at home. I couldn’t tell where I was. All I knew was that it was freezing cold and there was a slight breeze. I first looked around to try to figure out where I was. I still had no clue. When I was walking I tripped over something. “Whoa!” I shouted startled. It was a dead body. It hasn’t been here for very long too. I heard noises around me. “Hello, is anyone there?” Then I heard footsteps. “Marc, is that you?” I heard someone ask. I felt a hand on my shoulder. I was startled. “Hey what are you guys doing here,” I asked. No one answered. “Well let’s go.” I said. It was so hard to see. Fog here was as thick as a blanket. Slowly sliding through the fog was a man dragging a body. “Hide.” I said. I was only able to see a good view of the man carrying the body. It was Hannibal Lector. But it was the young Lector from Hannibal Rising. He set the body on the ground and started to eat it.
Watching him eat made me sick to my stomach. You could hear the sounds of chewing and bones being broken. Blood splattered everywhere and a drip of blood landed on me. “Yuck.” I said to myself disgusted. A few minutes later he walked away. Tania and Troy seemed to be sick to their stomach too. Once I saw the body I swear I was about to vomit. Intestine looked like it was pulled out and half of it was devoured. Krystal wasn’t even fazed. Ever since I saw Hannibal rising really graphic stuff makes me sick to my stomach. “Hey guys let’s look for an entrance to a building.” I said. I just realized we were in a courtyard. There were disturbing topiaries. One was a man impaled on a spike and the other was a man hanging. I rather not describe the rest. We found an entrance. “Hey over here!” I shouted. They looked to the door. “I don’t think it’s a good idea.” Tania said. Then all of a sudden Tania heard footsteps. But then it turned into running. “He’s coming!” Tania shouted. We all went inside except me because I waited for Tania. Unlike other people I’ll help out a friend and especially at a time like this. Most will run but not me. I can’t leave a friend to die. I told Tania to hurry. Right when entered I closed the door.
We came to a place that had two stairways and two doors under the stairways. Strange, Lector didn’t chase us through the door. All of a sudden the lights went off. “What’s going on?” Then when Tania was backing up she felt something behind her. She gasped on contact. I heard the sound of clinging shackles. When the lights turned back on Tania stood in front of a deformed creature. It looked to be human but I didn’t want to find out. We ran upstairs and the creature didn’t follow. We hid in a room for now. “Well what are we to do?” I asked. “Well we could try to run.” Troy said. “Haven’t we already tried that?” I asked. “Very well seem s that way.” Krystal said. “What do you think Tania?” I asked. “We should just try to get out of here.” She said. “Well then let’s see what we can do.” I said. We exited the room. We went back downstairs. “Which door should we go through?” I asked. No one answered. I just started to head towards one. There was blood smeared on the door. Once I opened it webs were everywhere. “This can’t be good.” Troy said. When we walked around there seemed to be another door. Right before we were able to reach it a giant spider came from the ceiling.
It shot web at Tania and it wrapped all around her. “Tania!” Troy and I shouted. We tried to get her but the spider picked her up and crawled away. “Let’s go find Tania.” I said. There was a hole in the wall where a door used to be. “Let’s go through there. “ I said. The door leads to the outside and there was a fence around the whole area. There were bodies hanging in trees in the distance. On the pathway smeared blood that lead somewhere was leading to a small house. But that house was on the outside. “Follow me.” I said. When we were outside the fence in the house I heard someone in the bushes. “What was that?” Jason asked. Outside the door I saw a figure jump and I heard a thump on the roof. Then I felt something drip on my shoulder. I wiped off a bit and checked to see what it was. It was blood. I backed up and looked at the ceiling. It was blood alright. Right when I turned around I saw a person with a pitchfork through the face. I know so much blood but what do you expect? Jason was standing at the door and he got snatched. Then I turned around and only saw Krystal and Troy. “Krystal, where’d Jason go?” I asked. “I don’t know.” She said. “I don’t really care.” Troy said. “Don’t be a hater, Well come on we have to search for Tania.” I said. We walked out of the house and made our way to the place where Tania was kept. We entered a door that was guarded by poison ivy. I had to kick it off with my shoe.
When I opened the door we entered another room with web all over. There on the ground lies Tania. I ran over to her and felt her wrist for a heartbeat. She was still alive but barely. I tried to wake her but I couldn’t. I knew it was risky but we had to stop for a while. “What now?” Troy asked. “I don’t know.” I replied. A few minutes later Tania awoke. “Tania how are you feeling?” I asked. She didn’t answer. I sighed and said that we should start to move on. There was another door in front of us and there was a big fresh splat of blood on it. “Do we have to go through there?” Troy asked. “Where else are we supposed to go Troy?” Krystal asked. “Well I don’t know.” Troy replied. I sighed heavily. I opened the door and I stepped on something. I tripped. Then I saw a puddle of blood. I was startled. It was Jason’s body or what was left of it. Lector must be near by. Then I just noticed Krystal was gone. “Krystal.” I said. “Hey where’s Krystal?” I asked. No one knew. Then we moved on. We were in an area with a lot of water. There was a fountain too. I heard howling. Then I heard the sound of running. Dogs were coming. When I saw the dogs they didn’t look normal. They were deformed in a way. “Run!” I shouted. Then there was pool of water. It looked like there was something at the bottom. A place to walk but we couldn’t reach it because it was under the water.
We had to swim across. “Don’t worry there’s nothing at the bottom.” I said. The dogs were following us. Once we made it to the other side across from us was a door. The door leads back into the room with the two stair ways. I guess that means we have to go through the other door. “Let’s go.” I said. When I entered it lead to an empty room. Once we walked to the middle of the room the floor collapsed. We fell at least twenty five feet. We almost fell head first and blacked out because of the impact. Five minutes later we woke up. “Ow my aching head.” I said painfully. “Everyone ok?” I asked. “Yes we’re okay.” Tania responded. “Good.” I said. We fell on a rock hard floor. In fact the floor was rock. It was a cave basically. There was barely any light. I hope everyone can see okay because you never know what’s in a place like this. Especially since the walls and floor was damp. There was a door in front of me, I think. I felt around then I found a knob. We were in waist deep water. I saw windows and etc. There were some moving things under the water. The water was really deep and I could almost see the bottom. Then all of a sudden I felt something go past my leg, Tania too. “What was that?” I asked. No one answered. Then all of a sudden tentacles whipped out of the water. One hit me and I hit the hard steel wall at high speed. I coughed up blood. I was under water now. I saw something moving around the water next to the octopus. It was a shark. This wasn’t good, not good at all. My blood just entered the water. “There’s a shark in the water!” I shouted to them. The shark jumped and it nicked Tania on the shoulder. “Tania are you okay?” I asked. She didn’t answer. “We just have to reach the door on the other side.” I said. “How are we going to do …..? Look out! The shark jumped towards me. I was barely able to dodge it. “Let’s hurry.” I said. It was hard to walk since we were waist deep in water. We were half way to the door.
“Keep going guys, we’re almost there.” I said. Right when we reached the door the shark lunged again. Tania quickly shut the door and the shark hit it. “We have to keep moving.” I said. We had to find Krystal if we could. But there were two doors. When entered the one to our right. It reeked of death. It leads back into the mansion. Right when we turned the corner we spotted Lector. “Wait.” I whispered to Troy and Tania. His chin dripped with blood. I got the chills just staring at him. He was panting and then Troy made a noise. I told Troy to stop making noises but Lector found us. “Run!” I shouted. We ran through a few doors then once I looked back Lector wasn’t behind us. It was strange. We ran into an unfamiliar place. But the place was disturbing. Blood covered the walls the ceiling and even the floor. Some bodies were chained to the wall. Body wide opened. It was the sickest thing I’ve ever seen. “Let’s hurry through this room.” I said. The door knob was covered with blood, but it was fresh. I kind of hesitated at first. Once I opened the door there was another room like this one. Blood was everywhere bodies opened, chained against the wall. When we got into the next room it looked like an area to store gardening tools. This didn’t make sense. Why are we in an area like this? I had no idea.
Then all of a sudden the lights went out. I heard the sound of shackles. Then the lights went back on and I saw the creature. We were too frightened to move. The monster was closest to Tania and me. Right when we tried to run Tania ended up getting hit on the leg. She shouted in pain. She collapsed. I went over and I got hit on the arm. I yelled in pain. This creature was abnormally strong. “Troy stop standing there and help us!” I shouted. I didn’t understand why he was just standing there. Was he frightened? Tania and I were frightened too but we were about to run. It swung again. The chain on the shackles wrapped around my neck. I struggled to get the chain shackle chain off. I couldn’t breathe. Tania was trying to help get the shackle chain off. I was knocked out from lack of oxygen. I didn’t wake for at least few minutes. When I woke up Tania was bloodied and Troy was too. When I saw the creature it was dead. A gardening shovel was through its head. “Tania are you okay?” I asked. “I guess so”. She responded. “We should be fine with that monster dead for now.” Troy said. There wasn’t a door in front of us. It looked like another cave like area. “Let’s go.” I said. It’s just like before, all damp and hardly any light. This mansion is really strange. There was switch on the wall. I wondered what it did. Troy pressed it. “Troy what are you doing?” I asked. Then the doorway behind us closed.
“Troy look what you did!” I shouted. It was pitch black. But then lights turned bur the lights were really dim. “Well nothing seemed to happened.” I said then the floor collapsed. We fell once again but this fall was much higher. All I heard was yelling before I hit the ground. An hour passed. Then another hour passed before we woke up. “Is everyone alright?” I asked. “Yeah we’re okay.” Troy responded. I tried to move my right arm but it hurt too much to move. My arm was broken. “Agh I think my arm is broken.” I said. Well I couldn’t do anything about right now. We had to move and find a way out of here. The cave was long. There were a few traps along the way. But what happens next? Once we got to the middle of a room the floor collapsed. Well I was in the safe zone. Tania and Troy didn’t fall but they were barely hanging on. “Tania give me your hand.” I said. “Troy give your hand too.” I said. “I can’t reach far enough.” Troy said. Spikes were at the bottom. “I can’t hold on much longer.” He said. I pulled Tania up first. I made a risk and used my right arm which was right arm to help Tania up so I was in a lot of pain. “Come on Troy reach farther.” I said. “I’m slipping!” Then before I could reach him he fell. Troy was gone. “No.” I said sadly. Now there was only Tania and I and hopefully Krystal are left. We lost two good friends which were Troy and Jason.
There was no other way out we had to move forward. It was just a straight tunnel with a few turns the rest of the way. Once we got to the end we were outside. It was a totally different place. It looked like we weren’t even in the area of the mansion. Brush was everywhere and tall trees all over and how could I forget about the hanging bodies? A really thick fog covered the area like a blanket. This was really bad. We were outside the mansion grounds. There was no way back. What were we going to do? Well we could go around and try to enter from the courtyard. “Tania we have to go around.” I said. It would be difficult to go around because the dogs on the outside would be after us. When we started walking I was stepping on something wet and soft, I did not want to know what it was. I could already hear the howls of the dogs in the distance. “We have to hurry okay?” I asked Tania. “Okay.” She replied. We were moving through really thick brush. Right when I was about to move brush out of the way a dog jumped out and knocked me down. “Get off me!” I shouted. It sunk its teeth in my arm. I yelled in pain. It started to jerk and I let out another yell. Tania tried to get it off. It didn’t really do anything because these dogs are abnormally strong. Then I lifted up my right arm and socked in the side of the head as hard as could. The dog collapsed, it was dead.
My arm was wide open and bleeding severely. I tore the sleeve off one side of my shirt. I wrapped it around my left arm. Now both of my arms were practically useless. But I can’t complain over this we have to keep going. We were a bit half way. To our left was a gate but it was locked. We had to pass this entrance. The only way was the front door. An hour passed and we made it to the front door. We were so exhausted and almost collapsed. Now we were where we started. Then out of the corner came Lector. He had to see us now of all the bad timing. We were too tired to run but we did anyway. We didn’t want Lector to catch us now did we? “Tania we have to run or we’ll never survive this.” I said. We ran through three or four doors during that time I noticed Lector held up a chain and a sickle. One of Lector’s creatures chased after us too. When we reached the next door Lector lunged and when he swung his sickle he hit his creature in the head. We were almost ready to faint from exhaustion. We came to a dead end and Tania and I were trapped in the corner. Lector swung his chain and hit Tania on the side. She collapsed and seemed to have blacked out from the blow. He hit me on the side too. I felt some ribs crack and coughed out blood. I put my arm up to block any other blow. Right before he hit me I thought this was going to be the end but then I heard something behind him then I saw his fall to the ground. It was Krystal with a chainsaw. “Am I late?” She asked. I had nothing to say but now it was over.
Lector was dead and the nightmare could finally end. Tania woke up a bit after. “Hey Tania, are you okay?” Krystal asked. “Yes I’m fine.” Tania replied. If Krystal had not come we would have been finished. Troy and Jason were gone. That’s what will never be the same. But the rest of us lived and after that we all went home.
The End
