Chapter 2
After about twenty minutes we crawled out of the tunnel.
There was no trees left anymore. Far to west there was a huge mushroom cloud. the thought hit us both.
"We've been nuked" i said with a shallov voice.
The sky had an horrible dark fire-like color. It was raining cinder and embers everywhere.
Anthony looked around, So did i. We found nothing. There was no way to see that this used to be a forest.
We slowly made our way over to the school.
almost half of it was gone.
There was not a single body at the schoolyard.
No one could be seen, or heard Nothing except the sound from a wall crumbeling down. We walked over to the entrance. The corridors was empty aswell. "we should check the school's bombshelter" I almost expected it to be empty aswell. "I bet thats where they all are" i heard Anthony said. It gave me some hope.
we reached the bombshelter. The door was slightly open. I moved closer to the door and opened it. The tiny bit of hope disapeared, i fell backwards from the shock. There was people in the room. However they were all dead. Anthony helped me up. we entered carefully. We saw several of our friends among the bodies. "They was shot to death" Anthony said after a while. I saw it too. I't didn't look like a regular bullet. The holes went straight through them and the skin just around the wound was burned.
I stumbeled out on the schoolyard. Anthony got out a few seconds later. "we can't stay here" he said. It felt horrible to leave it like this but i agreed.
