Memories.
Funny things, aren't they?
It's like a photo album and movie theater all at once inside your head. Flip through them and you can glimpse happy still pictures. The surround sound will wrap you in laughter, all just like that. But keep digging deeper...no, farther, and farther still, into the darkest recess of your mind and you can encounter the memories that you've been trying all your life to forget. The theater has gone dark, and screams of terror echo again and again inside your head, making you cringe, tremble, and maybe even shake on the outside. You bite back the screams as you fight to get out of the nightmare, but the relief you find is only temporary...because before you know it, you're remembering that horrible tragedy again, and all too soon. And the cycle repeats.
...will they ever go away?

I suppose I better tell you a little about myself, since you're inside my head now. It might help you out to know who's mind your watching.
On the planet where I come from, they call me Oonani-ta Akyera Lithiar. Since the language you speak here is vastly different from my own, it took me a while to translate it from Centigen to English. Here, that title would mean High (or Ruling) Princess SilverFire LightSide. I have never had anyone on Earth call me that, and I don't want it to start now. Everyone on Earth knows me as 'Sil', which suits me just fine.
So now, how did I manage to travel across space from a planet of princesses and magic, to one where such things only exist in dreams? Take a closer look, dear friend, and I will show you through those crazy little memories...

"Azrah!" I pouted, staring into a vanity mirror as my personal maid (who was also my only best friend) busied herself with brushing my hair out. My silver tiara lay on a plush, velvet pillow, right in front of me on my vanity. I despised that thing. It was the symbol of why I was never allowed outside the castle walls. It was enough having all of the castle hands scolding me everytime I asked them to go out; I didn't need that as a constant reminder.
"What is it now, 'Nani-ta?" She sighed, smiling as she brushed over one of the large black streaks in my hair. Only Azrah was allowed to call me 'Nani-ta (since it means "Little Princess", and I hated being called little), and when she did, it was only because I was acting "spoiled".
"It's going to be such a nice day outside, why can't I play in the towns, with the other kids my age?" I stared at my reflection, making my silver eyes grow as wide as they could as I spoke, smoothing out some of my dark-brown hair after Azrah brushed it.
The maid sighed and set the brush down before she spoke. "You know very well why you can't, 'Nani-ta." She then picked up something that made a smile tug at the corners of my mouth (regardless of the fact that I had just told myself I was going to be pouty all day). It was a special silver-handled brush that had a mix of wires and soft bristles poking out of it. Azrah then set to work brushing and cleaning my wings, and I let my eyes close and smiled. "However, since it is going to be such a nice day and everything, you can fly a little outside after lunch." She continued brushing my wings, cleaning them so that the feathers shone in the light.
"Thank you, Azrah," I said, still smiling and keeping my eyes closed. I loved the feel of that brush going through my feathers. It was so relaxing.
She finished getting me ready for the day, and the day itself was pretty boring up 'til I was finally allowed outside to fly around.
I quickly ran out of the castle door, a huge smile on my face, the wind lifting my hair away from the back of my neck. I jumped from the ground, my wings spreading as wide as they would go, and I quickly climbed in the air. The wind blew past, and it was amazing. I loved the feel of my wings stretching and flexing as they propelled me through the air. I did flips and turns and all kinds of tricks, happy to have such an amazing day for flying. I tested my limits and started flying as high as I could to see over the walls surrounding the courtyard without getting yelled at, when I saw them...
