Bluestreak Reborn
I should have written this two days ago, but I've been delayed after a series of events. During this period of time, I've been working on a custom job for Bluestreak that I had kept in the back of my mind. It never made sense to me that Bluestreak wasn't...well....BLUE! I've seen pictures of the original Diaclone and the original catalogue picture that had Bluestreak in a blue color scheme. Considering that I would never have the money to own an original Diaclone version (plus the relative rarety of the item) I decided to customize my own. After Thanksgiving dinner I looked over my box of spare Transformer parts. I had a few spare parts from a broken Bluestreak and Smokescreen. I figured that I would use these as the basis and combine the two. I tore apart Bluestreak peice by piece. First I repainted the hood/chest, the rear/feet, and the doors using standard Sapphire Blue w/ metal flake model spray paint. Given the delicate nature, I had to hand paint the shoulder hinges and the rear windshield. I replaced Bluestreak's original broken hood with that of the re-issue Silverstreak's. The arms, torso, head, waist, and legs were replaced with Smokescreen's since they matched the Diaclone version better. After the parts were repainted I let them dry over night.
I was awoken rather abruptly roughly around 4:00 A.M. from the sounds of everyone at home getting ready to leave for the Woodbury Commons Outlet Mall for the Friday sales. I couldn't go because I had to work later that day. I figured since I was up I would assemble the parts to my custom Bluestreak. After a few more touch-ups and the final sticker was applied provided by my re-issue Silverstreak, Bluestreak was finally finished. I went right back to sleep after that and awoken yet again, but this time with a massive headache that lasted my entire work day.
I'm rather pleased with the results. This is my fourth custom Transformer, but it's my second massive repaint job (my first being a custom red Gunsniper Zoid). I have a friend of mine that is willing to photograph my collection so I'll try and post pictures of all my customs as soon as he gets the time to come over my house and take the darn pictures.
