A final gaze into the dying light

The light betrays me

Leaves me alone at the edge of this cliff

Barbed noose around my neck,

Strangling the breath from my lungs

A final scream as I step over the edge

I wake from the dream I wish was a reality

Anger and depression burn inside

If I ripped myself apart

And sewed the pieces back in place

In the image of your liking

Would it ever be enough

Or should I just cut the thread

I shudder at the thought

The ending came too soon

Without a story before it

So many meaningless words

My eyes blinded by the thought of happiness

But then I saw the smile fade

Trembled as I saw the fire die to ashes

A line drawn through the page

And a bullet shot through my heart

Oh I should have known

A sequel to the last dreaded failure

As I sit on the edge of the cliff

Imprisoned by the thought

The actual idea of happiness

But no I can’t have that, not me

I must drown in the pool of my own sadness

The pain leaves me breathless

The light dies behind me

Darkness consumes the sky

I stand atop a cliff

Yes I have dreamed this before

His silhouette dances happily

Across the valley below me

The renewed pain is too much

Like a barbed noose around my neck

Exactly as before, just as I dreamed

Anguish once more fills my lungs

I stand atop the cliff

I call out his name to no avail

With a final desperate scream

I ask why must it be this way

His dancing silhouette stops

Looks my way, right into my bloodshot eyes

And begins to fade

I reach out and fall to my knees

The howling wind cries out

Then carries him away

He is gone

It is too much

I can not take the immense pain

I feel the place in my chest

Where my heart tries to beat

But it is shattered

I gaze at bloodstained hands

Cry tears of cold blood

Tighten the noose

Then with a leap of sadness

I descend from the cliff

It is finally over
