Apparently, in New Zeland the city of Christchurch (no joke thats the name) is hoping that blaring classic tunes such as "Mandy" by Barry in the mall will drive away the "mall rats" at the local mall. These quote unquote "unruly" teens vandalize the area, use drugs, arrive intoxicated, and intimidate other shoppers. This is honestly the most idiotic thing I have EVER read.
Intimidation, and drug use I can see but, thier mouths are only under their control. No security guard can tell them to clean that up. They sure as hell wouldn't say that to me, and my mouth isn't exactly "clean." Speaking of security guards, why aren't they doing anything? Too lazy? Plus blasting Barry Manilow would not only drive away teens but others as well. Hello people not everyone like Barry Manilow! Along with the fact that teens are a high pecentage of people who actually shop at the mall. So a lot of stores that aim to attract people of that specific age group will go out of business. Wouldn't want that now would we?
******** Barry Manilow and ******** who came up with this lame-a** idea. Trust me. IT WON'T WORK! Most teens have iPods and Mp3's nowadays anyway. Maybe those kids will just come back and blare thier music even louder. Hmmmmmmm Mindless Self Indlugence vs. Barry Manilow. Who will win?
