“About?” He asked, tossing a brief glance her way. Nicky’s expression was replaced by on of annoyance while she rose an eyebrow. “What do you think? I have yet to figure out why the hell I’m not back home soaking up the beach for my birthday!” She growled lightly, crossing her arms.
“Ah, yeah that’s right.” He murmured, eyes moving to look out into the dark forest. After a moment, he spoke. “Our world, this world, is controlled by one single jewel.” He told her. Nicky muffled a laugh, which drew his attention to her with a raised eyebrow. “A jewel? Are you serious?” She chuckled. His annoyed expression made her shut her mouth, listening. “Can I continue? Or are you going to laugh some more?” He asked dryly, rolling his eyes. Nicky shook her head.
“Good…Anyways, as I was saying.” He started again. “The holder of this jewel was named Madame Hissue, one of the purest souls in this world. She controlled the way of life here, kept everything in order. But, she was murdered by a man named Aion.” He said that last name a bit harshly, eyes flashing briefly before continuing. “He stole the jewel, and is now using its powers to spread darkness over everything. No matter where you turn, half dead shadow creatures are trying to beat the s**t outta you. People are being assassinated and or kidnapped. It’s everywhere.” Nicky’s eyes had grown alittle bigger by now, her knees pulled up to her chest while she listened intently. “You and Aion are the last know decendants from Madame Hissue. The only two who can hold and use the jewels power.” He explained, finally turning his gaze to the shocked teen. She was silent, frozen. “You mean…what, do I have to kill this guy or something?!” She whined, shivering in the cold. He nodded once. “It’ll be hard…but with proper training and magic, I’m sure you’ll be able to win.” He ressured her quickly, standing.
Nicky merely stared out into the drakness, sighing. “I can’t do this, you’ve got the wrong girl I mean…” Her voice trailed off in another sigh. Cain watched her for a moment, then walked to the edge of the roof. “C’mon, we have a lot of ground to cover tomorrow.” He said, jumping down onto the small balcony. The soft thump brought Nicky back into reality as she blinked, looking around. “W-wait up!” She whined, scooting over to the edge.
Nicky peeked over the side down at him, trying to figure out how to get down. Cain rose an eyebrow up at her. “Just jump, it’s simple.” He chuckled. She shook her head quickly, looking around for another way. With a sigh, he held out his arms. Nicky rose an eyebrow. “What’er you-?” “Jump, I’ve got you.” The demon sighed, but couldn’t help but chuckle. A light color of pink surfaced on Nicky’s cheeks, but she nodded. She turned herself around, sitting on the edge. With a small squeak, she clumsily “jumped” off.
Cain caught her easily, not even stumbling from her klutzy fall. Nicky’s eyes looked up at him, then her face turned red, scrambling out of his arms and into the room. With a raised eyebrow, he followed. Soon, the two crawled into bed. The night was calm a quiet, but it took Nicky awhile to fall asleep. ‘This is gonna be hell…’ She thought glumily, then closed her eyes.
