Chapter 6
Chapter 6

The First Strike

That same night as I lay in my bed to get some rest all I could think about was this vampire nonsense. Okay, maybe technically it wasn’t nonsense, but still. Why would the vampires all of a suddenly want to take over the world by ridding the world of the humans like so many eons ago? It just didn’t make any sense to me. Then again what did? I closed my eyes and went to sleep, hoping I wouldn’t dream about vampires or anything tonight.

The next morning as I wake up for school, I swear I was hallucinating. First, I thought I saw my dog Casey with vampire fangs in her mouth. Second, I thought I saw my mom fly down the stairs so she could eat her breakfast for work. Lastly (thank god), I thought I saw my dad drinking blood out of the water pitcher. I sighed and grabbed two buttery pieces of toast off the island in the kitchen, and then sat down on the table. When I finished I headed out the door to go to school.

Of course Connor gave me a ride again. “Did you have good dreams last night?” he asked after 10 minuets of silence. “I guess,” I began, “Is it possible to be hallucinating after you just got bit by a werewolf?” Connor chuckled. “Yes its possible. It happened to me, so I guess.” He said. I giggled. He wasn’t being the stuck up kid I was used to anymore, he was a gentler person now. As we got out of the car and headed towards school grounds I had a feeling I was getting evil glares from girls. “Crap,” I thought, “I have enemies.”

I finally saw my friends at the same wooden table as before. But I don’t think they wanted to associate with me today, so I headed towards the schools main doors. “Oh Summer,” Kassie called, “Come on! Sit with us!” oh crap…if I die I will haunt you all for eternity. I turned around, smiled at them, and then started walking forward. I sat nervously down on the edge of the table with all my friends staring at me. “Hey Sum,” Alora smiled at me, “Guess what.” I flickered my eyes back and forth nervously. “What?” I asked. “I’m proud to say that I’m done with Connor,” she began, “I like another.” I bopped my head backwards, not believing what I’m hearing. “Really?” I asked, “Who?” Alora looked toward the right of the table, toward the group of high school boys in the corner. She sighed. “TJ is such a hottie.” She said in a daze.

I scooted away from her, acting if she just farted. “What ever okay?” Cleo said. “We’re still going after Connor.” Kassie said finishing Cleo’s sentence. I rolled my eyes then went to math, today we get to do partner activities. “This is going to be the worst,” a shadowy figure caught my eye. No, it wasn’t a stupid bird it was something else. I couldn’t really see what I was but I swear it looked like a bat. “That’s a huge bat.” I thought. I continued walking toward my class ignoring it for now.

I started walking towards my math class again, as I entered the room the place seemed eerie in a way. The teacher kept on looking at me as I went to my seat like I was a ghost or something. “This is getting too weird,” I thought, “Maybe this day will be slower than usual.” After the bell rang the teacher didn’t start, yeah know, teaching. It was very weird. “Mr. Allemang?” a kid called out. Mr. Allemang slowly turned his head toward the students, but instead of asking what he wanted he screamed like a possessed demon. His eyes started glowing crimson red, his skin started drying out like a sponge, and then he grew wings like an angel but more horrifying.

The kid looked at his teacher frightened. I would be too if I knew my math teacher was a demon. Suddenly the demon launched himself at the student, and showing his long pointy vampire like teeth. Oh my gosh…it was a vampire. “Bob look out!” another kid called out to him. So scared and frightened Bob didn’t move. He just kept staring at the thing that was about to kill him. We then heard another roar, and it was coming from outside. The window shattered into a million pieces and a tall dark muscular beast appeared in front of Bob.

“Connor,” I whispered, “So he knew they were coming?”

The two beasts were automatically on it. Fighting for their lives. The werewolf (also known as Connor) finally threw the demon outside so they wouldn’t hurt anyone inside the classroom. The principal slammed the door open and when he did he looked furious. “Who was the wiper snapper who did that to my window?” he asked. I looked around, and no one was raising their hand. I wouldn’t blame them the principal wouldn’t have believed them if they told him that there was a big scary demon in the room.

The principals’ eyes looked more furious now. “All right, since no one wants to confess everyone in here is in for detention tonight!” he said then slamming the door as he left. “I hate you Connor.” I thought in my head. At least we had the rest of the mod to talk with one another. That was only the good part of this whole thing.

After school was a total nightmare. First the principal asked one more time who crashed the window, and when nobody confessed for punishment we had to clean the bathrooms or the classroom chalkboards. Secondly we all had to call our parents and tell them why we’re staying after for. Knowing my parents I’ll be grounded for the rest of my life. Lastly we had to each chip in at least $10 in order to pay for a new window, and if we didn’t have the money by tomorrow we would have a months worth of detention. “I hate this school.” I thought.

When I got home I was in a very crabby mood. I didn’t want dinner or anything I just wanted to relax in my room. Forget that! Connor beat me to my room, and was sitting in my Hello Kitty chair. I stared at him. “I know your probably mad for getting all of you in trouble but I’m afraid I have even more bad news,” he began, “The vampires are striking again, and when they heard we’re recouping more werewolves they wanted to kill the newborns first.” I titled my head to the side in confusion. “Newborns?” I asked. “Newly marked werewolves. Usually they have no idea what to do with their powers so they wonder off in cities all by themselves, but that’s when they’re most vulnerable.” He said.

I sighed. They’re idiots if they go all by themselves out in cities where some vampire creep can just suck the living blood out of them.

“So that thing was after me?” I asked. Connor nodded.

“But how does he know I exist? I mean you just marked me like 2 days ago.”

Connor sighed in frustration. “I know that Summer, why do you think I was protecting you? Because I like you?” he asked. A smile whispered across my face after he said that. “You like me don’t you Connor?” I asked with a smirk. “NO! I positively hate you!” he snapped. “Uh huh.” I said. Connor growled then started walking out the door. “I’ll see you at school tomorrow.” He mumbled. I rolled my eyes. “He’s such a twit.” I thought.

What I didn’t know was that behind me an evil presents was watching our every move. Waiting for its next strike, until then it’ll be lurching in the shadows spying on its pray like a lion.
