CHAPTER ONE.
PART ONE.
Water trickled from above, breaking the otherwise complete silence of the dark passageway. A young female, her bright pink hair illuminating her way, made her way down the passage, away from the light.

She was tense-it could be seen in her posture, and how she looked everywhere before moving.

trickle. Trickle. Her heels clicked as she continued down, down, down the dark passageway.

"Miki? Is that you?" A voice echoed from below, and the female stood on her tip-toes and looked over the railing to the level below.

"Nikkiy," Miki sighed in relief at the sight of her vice~commander. "I didn't think I would find you."

Nikkiy grinned up at the commander of the Elite 8, and, technically, her boss. "Well, ya found me. So come on down and let's talk."

Miki jumped over the railing and landed silently beside the vice~commander. "How's Calputa?"

"They're hangin' on," Nikkiy sighed. "Miki, we've gotta fill up the remaining six spots."

"Already working on it," Miki pulled six folders out of her civilian bag and passed them over.

"Speaking of working...we can't keep meeting here," Nikkiy mused as she opened the first file. "We need to find a permanent place to stay and work out of."

"Ah-greed. The old tunnels are disgusting. And I'm working on that, too."

"Got your bases covered-I knew there was a reason you were elected leader."

"Appointed. And, yeah, that and the fact that everyone else in this city doesn't like to take responsibility. When can you start transferring people from Calputta-"

"Soon-ish. Shouldn't take that long." Nikkiy glanced down at her watch. "Ah, crap, gotta go. I'll call ya, Miki."

"Bye, Nikkiy."

As Miki watched her vice~commander trot away, she was filled with a sense of evil foreboding...
