Reluctant Protagonists
We walk on two legs, not on four. To walk on four legs breaks the law. What happens when we break the law? What happens when the rules aren't fair? We all know where we go from there; back to the house of pain...
Why is pneumonia the ultimate illness attributed to being out in the winter? I swear, it's either a broken neck or pneumonia with people (George Carlin was a downright genius, by the way). Whenever I want to go for a jog or run, I get yelled at by the less-in-shape people of "authority" for what's good for me. Athletes can't sit inside all winter, because that negates any and all practice we do throughout the year. What is so bad about exercising in the snow? I need someone to hurry up and tell me that right now. Because I'll tell you that if you're into any type of sport, whether it's an art form like mine or a strategic strength fest like football or the abomination that is MMA (that's right, I went there. I went there with BELLS ON!), you need to practice year round.

This basically stemmed from someone laughing and stating that I would die of pneumonia because I would wear shorts in 30 degree weather. First of all, there's no way you can get pneumonia from cold weather... That's just not how bacteria works my friend, and I believe you probably meant hypothermia anyway, which is wholly attributed to cold. Secondly, I have a well maintained system that works for me to keep me warm. I eat five times the amount of calories an obese person swallows, but my metabolism sadly works too fast, however it also makes it somewhat easy for me to warm up and not freeze to death.

I direct you to healthy Shaolin monks who practically walk out in their skivvies during winter, should you need any more sense as to how I can wear shorts if I so choose.

I get most of this flack from my mother who hears about me doing katas outside when it's about 20 degrees. It's not like I'm completely nude, and I don't exactly go out when it's most windy either, because that would be stupid. I hate when people expect you to live within their expectations... =_= I also get yelled at when I come home with bruised shins too, which is merely a byproduct of full contact sparring. There is a method to the madness in the martial arts, and part of that is conditioning of surfaces that make contact. Contact leaves bruises sometimes, I don't know what else to say about it. O.o;

Anyway, stop calling me crazy because I'm not a lazy bum who can't take a few bodily stresses! Seriously, I train all day, and most people sit on the computer... I think my body is more adapted to do things than they can imagine.
