(eh, I was bored and decided to try something new, so I began wondering about how and where Kain first found the small adorable pup whom we now know to be Black Hayate. Here's my take on it. Plus I needed some practice as Kain for some rps so this will do as well.)
Master Sgt. Kain Fury was making his way back towards East HQ after running a few errands for some of the others. Umbrella in hand and a parcel wrapped in a brown bag under his arm, things seemed rather slow today. The rainy weather seemed to have gotten everyone down and inactive. Not that he minded, after all it meant less work for him and though he wasn't one to be considered lazy, he was grateful for the time off. His footsteps came lightly on the smooth pavement as he made his way at a leisurely pace, the rain making small pitter-patter noises upon hitting the water-resistant material of his umbrella. As he turned another corner, the highwalls of the headquarters came into sight but he made no effort to quicken his step.
He was passing by an alley when he heard a low whimper. "Huh?" he questioned looking around and spotted a sagging cardboard box a little further into the alley. More whimpers were coming from the box and Kain quickly moved over to peer inside it. His eyes widened slightly upon coming face to face with a small black and white puppy. "Hey there little guy..." Kain muttered with a friendly, heart warming tone, "Poor thing, you're soaking wet..." He reached down to scratch the pup's head. The pup barked appreciatively and licked his hand, "Heheh, you're a cute little fella, aren't you?" he cooed and scratched the pup's head again, Great...now what do I do? I can't just leave him out here....the poor thing will die from the cold. He looked from the pup to the direction of HQ and then back at the pup, I shouldn't...I really shouldn't. He thought frowning. As if sensing his hesitation, the canine gave another pathetic whimper and tried to jump out of the box to get closer to Fuery. The Master Sgt. gave a small chuckle and lifted the pup out of the box bringing it under the jacket of his uniform, "Aw, what the heck? I'm sure it'll be alright for one day. Maybe I'll be able to find you an owner." he said and continued happily on his way.
