You can just call me Amaranth. I am 16, going on 17. I am a female and a Junior in High school. My mom and her best friend started the rescue three (soon going to be four) years ago. I have given up my whole entire summers and most weekends since the rescue started. As you will read. I become bonded to the birds, I am happy to see them going to new homes, and saddened. Birds can do some amazing things.
The location of the rescue will not be posted here. I am writing this journal to tell whoever is interested, What happens in a bird rescue. So many people are clueless of the problems with parrots these days.
Facts.
-Parrots are the third most common pets, meaning, Like dogs and Cats, Shelters are full.
-Parrots like dogs and cats can be abused. My own family has adopted two of the most abused birds. Birds are abandoned, neglected, killed, and illegally released.
-Parrots are smart, They do not only mimic, Each one has a personality.
-Parrots bite, But some you can't even feel, Some will break your finger.
-Parrots can teach you, and train you.
-There are illegal imports daily
-You can train a wild parrot
-Parrots can be noisy, messy, and troublesome. But they can be your best friend which is most rewarding...
-Each Parrot has their own personality along with species
