Niome took another bite of her cotton candy. She glanced over at Derrick. He was staring at the row boats. She ran her fingers through her brown hair. "I'm having a really fun time..." Niome said. Something was wrong with Derrick. "Me too." He simply said. Niome stared over at the row boats too. "What's wrong?" She asked. "Nothing. But I...want to show you something. In the fun house." he replied. "Before we do that...Do you want to go rowing on the lake?" Niome asked. She could see a small gleam in his blue eyes flicker. "Yes!" he yelled.
Niome ran over to the row boats. Niome discarded my cotton candy in a nearby trashcan and asked the carnie for a boat. She smiled at me and asked if anyone else was coming on the ride. Niome pointed to Derrick, who was still catching up. "He is rowing the boat." Niome laughed. The woman smiled. "Make the man do all the work, I see? That'll be 5 dollars, please." Niome handed over the money quickily and Derrick showed up. He reached for his wallet. "no need. I already paid." Niome smirked. Derrick rolled his eyes.
They got into the boat a little rockily. Niome sat at the end and they were each given an oar. "I guess I am helping you out..." Niome said. Derrick laughed. They began our row.
It was quiet. Niome didn't like that. She tried to break it. "It's sooooo nice out here." She said as she stared at the lake. The sun was setting, so the sky was full of oranges and purples. The colors were reflected in the clear lake and trees sorrounded the area. A few clouds were in the sky. "It is." Derrick said. There was worry in his voice. Niome sighed. "I didn't agree to come to this carnival just so you would be quiet...What's wrong?" Niome asked. "Let's go back and i'll show you, k?" Derrick said. Niome nodded her head.
Niome walked to the edge of the lake while Derrick talked to the Carny. "I wonder what is wrong with him..." She sighed. Derrick walked behind her and smiled. "This is nice. Hanging out with my best friend." He said. He wrapped his arms around her neck. NIome turned around and smiled back at Derrick. She leaned in to kiss him, wen Derrick put his hands on her shoulders." I think you should see something." He said. He led Niome to the fun house.

''Where are you?" She said, scared. He appeared in front of her. Niome looked around. She hesitated for a moment. "Why can't I see your reflection?" She cried. A tear formed in her eye. "Don't tell me you are a..." She shuddered. "Vampire." Derrick declared with a stutter in his voice."I'm moving...You can guess why. Goodbye, Niome." He said with sadness. "Will you...at least give me a kiss. We never got into that part of our relationship yet." Niome begged. Derrick walked closer to her. Niome waited. She closed her eyes. But when she opened them, he vanished. "Derrick..."She muttered. "Derrick!" She screamed.
