Where am I?
The cold forest moved about him, the skys gray and softly rumbling, threatening rain. Each step made no sound as he walked.
What happened?
The rain hit the dying grass at his feet softly, the wind picking up to make the small meadow dance. The calming scene before him made him smile, almost sadly. Something he longed to touch, reminding him of home. The young man was dressed in army fatiges, black hair falling slightly into his silver eyes. He was fighting over in Europe... France... The battle had begun and...He had gotten lost in the woods... that's right...
What happened after that?
What did happen? The feild was silent as the grave, a thought that sent shivers though his spine. World War II had taken him from his family to this horrible place. The rain began to fall harder now. The grass beaten down by the heavy drops. He raised his face to the falling drops. He could feel them... but... His face... his face wasn't wet. He began to run, something wasn't right
The battle....
The battle! Where had it gone!? He had heard the gunshots, could feel the ground move under him with bombs exploding. He heard the cries of his comrads as they fell to the ground in their blood. He had seen limbs ripped from their owners. What happened after that? They had pulled back... Into the woods where they couldn't be seen in the open space. The battle had quieted.
Water...
Calling for medics... shouting commands... his throat burned. He went to fill his cantine somewhere...The river... there had been a german soldier there. His blue eyes were filled with panic... fear... the same emotions that ripped though him... There was a gunshot...
Who won?
His eyes flashed open as thunder ripped above him. He was upon the bank of the river. His things were gone. The rain fell onto his face and he twitched. He tried to move and the pain ripped though him. His hand moved over his chest and he lifted it to his face. Blood. He had been shot. He cursed under his breath. It was silent around him. He was alone. Was he going to die here?
