I wrote this letter to a newbie a few moments ago. Anyone who is a newbie and you are asking for money, I suggest you read this.

First, just as a warning, most Gaians do not like users whom ask for money. However, I'm not one of those people, and so you've lucked out.

The point of Gaia is to gain gold in order to achieve a look for your avatar, achieve success, have a collection, whatever. You can basically make your goal whatever you want. But the truth is, every person on Gaia has worked to gain this gold, and most don't want to give away something that they worked for.

Anyhow, if you wish to gain gold to achieve your goal, I would suggest you try a little of everything here. Join discussions, make comments in the art arena, explore Gaia, gamble, catch insects, go fishing. Your success will not come to you instantly-- you must have patience and work hard. The users that began in 2003 and/or have worked hard have gotten far on Gaia and they are the ones that you see with the cool items. And they deserve those items.

Other ways to achieve success is to be a businessman. This means buying things that you believe will go up in price later, at a risk, just like in the real business world. For example, save up to buy the next donation letter. Once the item is released, the letters generally go up in value, so your purchase will pay off. Also, saving rare items and then selling them a few months down the road may greatly increase the value of an item.

Selling services is, again, a wonderful way to get additional funds. If you can draw or make graphics for people, you can open a shop. This is just one business idea.

In short, no. I will not give you the gold that I work day after day and for long hours to gain. However, with a strategy and clever mind, you can continue to make money for a long time, which I believe is more valuable then just getting occasional donations from strangers. I think that working for the money will give you more satisfaction that you've reached your goal in the end then being handed money.
