Running from Fear
Eyes so clear through dusk that falls
Far into the night we ride through
Fallen trees under sheer moonlight
Lighting the way to provide safety
An evil in the air with no escape
A fear of returning home to seek the night
Driving far into the unknown which is more comforting
Than a place far too familiar like a residence
Death following too close behind chasing the light
As it burns out through open fingers
Twisted words piercing the silence like thorns
From your rose you’d blessed me with
The minute you guided me through the past
On the way home too terrified to return
Only hoping to be back inside with the lights on
In your arms to escape to and pretend they are safe
No demon or evil able to break through your shield
Holding me tight even though nothing is wrong
A final safety too hard to let go but there comes a time
Where everyone must return to the place from which they run
Hiding becomes no use when it’s the fight that follows
A journey through the mind of a killer
Becomes a labyrinth in time with solace in the center
For a final bit of peace and a better night’s rest
To realize the importance of trust with nothing to fear
