((This is a cut scene from the Anime Hotel Party Roleplay I am in. Since it is all interaction between characters that I am playing I thought I would be better for me to NOT post it in the thread as it is just too long.

P.S. this takes place at the beginning of the Chibi Party.))

-o-o-o-o-

When Conan woke up he didn't notice anything was off. That was mainly because since he was already shrunk by the poison force fed to him by the Men in Black Coats, the spell had somehow overlooked him. It wasn't until he sat up and saw a pair of blue eyes very similar to his own staring at him from the foot of his bed. Conan jumped in surprise, well as much as one can jump when sitting in a bed with the covers over your lap.

Kaito had woken a few minutes earlier to find that his world had grown around him, and had decided to wait until his roommate woke up. Of course climbing onto the said boy's bed had been a completely optional extra, but he'd wanted to see if he could get a rise out of the detective. "Good-morning tantei-kun" the thief grinned as he cocked his head to the side playfully. The fact that the boy was a detective was 'learned' by Kaito during their interaction that first night. "You know, you look suddenly big today?" He laughed, his voice sounding as childlike as he looked.

"Wha?" Conan looked down at himself to confirm that he was still in fact 'Conan', which he was. Then he looked at Kaito again, "Don't you mean that you're small?" he asked with a hint of confusion in his voice.

The magician just laughed and hopped off the foot of the bed, "That all depends on your point of view really." He pulled a deck of cards from a pocket and though they were now a little too big for his hands he was still able to shuffle them expertly. "You know, I hope that girl isn't too worried about you. Didn't you say something about not seeing her at all yesterday?"

Conan's eyes widened in realization, if Kaito was small like him, was Ran also? He quickly got out of bed and began running for the door when the other boy called out to stop him. "Don't you want to at least get dressed first?" This made Conan realize that he was still in his pajamas. He quickly got ready, before rushing out the door to the bedroom, and to the one two doors down where Ran was staying.

Knocking on the door the miniature detective called out, “Ran-neechan! Ran-neechan, are you in there? Are you okay?” If what happened to his roommate had happened to her, Shinichi was afraid that she might be worried. Meanwhile, said roommate had followed the boy, but at a calmer pace, and was now standing a few feet away near the wall between Ran’s room, and the one Aang was staying in next door. He was still shuffling the cards, and every now and then he would flip one over, nod as though satisfied with the result, and then continue with the shuffling.

Ran looked up when she heard the knocking on the door, and Conan’s voice drifting through it. She had been staring at her smaller self for a while now and had come to a very important conclusion. She was damn cute as a little kid/chibi/whatever had happened. Also, once she had heard the announcement that everyone had been transformed she had somehow been less worried about it. Of course, Conan had been sleeping through that announcement after staying up late finishing his dad’s book, so he hadn’t known.

After hopping from her makeshift stool she went to the door and opened it to find the young boy she had been taking care of on the other side. Somehow he hadn’t changed at all she noticed, except one thing. She didn’t have a chance to say anything though as the boy grinned upon seeing her, “Ran-neechan, are you alright?” he asked, his voice full of concern.

Ran nodded carefully, “Yeah I’m alright.” She said before glancing down at herself and back at him again, “Well, considering.” She paused a moment gathering herself before continuing, “Say Conan,” she put heavy emphasis on the name, the same way she did every time she was about to accuse him of being Shinichi. “Where are your glasses?

What!” Conan had a shocked look on his face as he grabbed for the frames that were not there. He quickly realized that in his hurry to check on Ran he had completely forgotten to grab them from the bedside table. “Why didn’t you say anything!” he rounded on Kaito.

The magician meanwhile had found a ladder somewhere and was currently rigging some kind of contraption above Aang’s door. Glancing over he replied with a grin, “Well you looked like you were fine without them, so I didn’t think it was a big deal.” he made it sound like the most obvious thing in the world when he had said it. Of course, his real motivations were different since he, in his KID persona, actually knew about his roommate’s true identity.

Ran watched the short exchange between the boys patiently before speaking up again, “But I thought you said your eyesight was really bad. Wouldn’t you notice right away if you didn’t have your glasses on.” She had a slight frown on her face, and her arms were crossed. All Conan could to was stutter as he tried to come up with an explanation, and Ran interrupted him before he could say anything intelligible, “It’s just too similar. Your birthdays, your blood types, your mannerisms, you can try to explain it all you want, but I know you’re Shinichi. You’re just too much like him not to be. I just want to know why you won’t tell me. Don’t you trust me?” The girl was beginning to break down into tears, all the while approaching Conan as he backed away from her.

Ordinarily, Ran crying would be enough to pull at Shinichi’s conscience, but with her childlike face it was completely heartbreaking for him. Instead of denying her like he usually did, he simply gave a defeated sigh. “At first I was afraid that you would get hurt. Then after a while I was more afraid that you wouldn’t take it very well. But it was never that I didn't trust you.” He sighed as he looked away. All but forgotten one magician, slash thief, hid a satisfied smile as he put the finishing touches on the trap over his friend’s door.

Ran would get to the other part later, but first, “What do you mean ‘wouldn’t take it well’?” she sounded more curious that upset at that point.

Well,” he began, not really knowing why he was continuing to be so open. Maybe it was the relief of finally telling her, and not having to hide from his best friend anymore. “You were always so worried about ‘Shinichi’ I thought you’d be upset if you knew I was already there and not telling you. Plus, there was the fact that you told Conan pretty much everything.” He blushed a little remembering some of the confidences shared with him, but ploughed on. “Not to mention the times you, uh, well, bathed with me.” The boy was red as a tomato after this final statement. After having made this entire confession to a particularly interesting spot on the floor he lifted his gaze to look at the girl.

While Shinichi had been speaking Ran had been growing increasingly annoyed as it dawned on her just how much she had shared with the boy thinking he was just a little kid. “Shinichi,” she growled in a tone that nothing as cute as she appeared at that moment should be able to achieve. Her eyes practically glowed with, well maybe not murderous intent, but definitely an intent to do many very painful things to the boy before her.

Shinichi, taking the hint was off and running before Ran could have a chance to show him exactly what those things would be. One could correctly assume that it involved her Karate, however. Ran was hot on the detective’s heels, refusing to let him get away from her again. Kaito was right behind the pair, the ladder returned from whence it came. His laughter was a huge contrast from Shinichi’s expression of fear, or Ran’s look of righteous fury. That had actually been more entertaining that he’d thought it would be.

Alright, I'll mention this here for Saph-chan. as I mentioned before, I never know exactly what Kaito is planning, but at least this time he was generous enough to tell me one thing. He said that he wants to play a prank on his new friend. Knowing him that means it isn't harmful, but it'll definately be surprising if you're not expecting it, and very likely that it will be something messy.

Surprisingly, he was also generous enough to leave me a copy of the card he plans on leaving Aang in the prank, so here you go. [Card]
