Do you like your name? Do you know why your parents named you the name they did? Do you know where the name came from or what it means? What name would you change it to if you could?
I'll start. My name is Winter. It's not a common name at all. My mum was reading a book called Rebecca and she liked the male characters name. She was pregnant with me at the time and the name Winter just sounded like a unique name for me. It would have fit either a girl or a boy. Of course my names means Winter. I've never looked it up in a name book so I think I'll do that and post whatever I find out. I have not one single thought as to where it orginated. I don't know if it's English, French or German so I think it would be cool to find out what native language it evolved from. There have also been many a day I wished I could change it to something that was more popular like John or David, but I've grown into the name and I like it now. I even read Rebecca one day just so see what the main character was like. He was interesting and a bit secretive and more then a little scarred by the death of his first wife, Rebecca. If your to lazy to read the book then check out the movie. Alfred Hitchcock made it into a movie and it has also been remade into another film that I saw on PBS on year. It's a pretty good movie and better book. Now you let me know about your name and maybe even suggest a question or two.

This journal is a little different from most other journals. In it I am going to make a question each day and answer it. This is where you the reader comes in, I want you to answer the question and also suggest a question from time to time.

I can't say I'm too fond of it, though. I mean, if you can say it right, it's not too bad. But everytime I say my name someone will go "Oh, like the Good Witch, right? From Wizard of Oz?" And no, her name was Glinda. Also it seems that whenever I tell people my name, they either think I said 'Linda', 'Brenda', or 'Glinda'. Bleh.
My parents picked out my name from a baby book, though. My mom wanted to name me Sarah at first, but my dad didn't like it. My mom saw 'Glenna', and then eventually went with 'Glenda'. I had an aunt who was named Glenda, and my grandpa was named Glenn, so they thought it would make him happy that I was named after him. My brother and I have very English-sounding names, though.
If I could change my name, I'd be an Autumn, or an Amelia or something. But I think I'll be stuck as a Glenda for awhile. ; / Oh well, at least it's better than an Ashley, and I'm so glad I wasn't named Sarah. God knows how many Sarahs go to my school.
