It's cute and all, but I kinda of agree with the view that it's just another way Gaia has found to make money off of people. Not that it's a terrible thing, afterall they do deserve to be paid for all that they do, but how much do you honestly think you ought to be able to charge for a bunch of pretty pixels anyway?
Not only that, but the vast increase in any and all items that can be purchased with cash lately just reinforces the fact that those with real money are so much better than the rest of us. Afterall, they get all the best stuff.
Isn't there any value at all to being a loyal member of the site? You know, someone who comes in often, sticks around, and develops real ties to the place? Maybe it's just more important to the Gaia staff to have a bunch of kids around who'll plop down exorbitant sums of their parents money and then take off.
