I is bored so religion wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*Im not going to say every religion so itll mostly be based on Christianity**And Im calling god a he because I dont wanna write he/she or it*
I believe religion is meant for guiding people, which is fine as long as you are led by a sound consciousness. The problem arises in organized religion where you are dictated to by a preacher telling you what god wants you to do, and basically forced to believe in things that arent always right(like the crusades). I have also pondered if you do the right things to get a better place in a possible afterlife, was it really youre good intention that made the decision for you? or youre desire for an improved position in the afterlife. I believe that if there is an afterlife that it shouldnt matter what religion you are as long as you led a good life you should be allowed in. I refuse to believe in a god that would damn good and innocent people because they were raised to believe in something else, or lost faith. Also religious documents like the bible that are taken so literal and serious annoys me it was the creators opinion thousands of years ago the world was much different. If he really disagreed with our ways of life he'd smite us like in the old days, that or he has left us to make our decisions, or has just completely left us.I believe god gave us free will and has yet to tamper with it he has gotten angry and smote how can you get angry at what you know is going to happen? So we have free will and we have choices to make but making the right choices is what makes the world a better place. I believe in.. People, I believe that people are the only creatures on this planet with free will we can do great good or great evil but it is left up to our free will so Ill believe in people to save the world to fix our mistakes and to create peace.
Here are some quotes:"Why not let people differ about their answers to the great mysteries of the Universe? Let each seek one's own way to the highest, to one's own sense of supreme loyalty in life, one's ideal of life. Let each philosophy, each world-view bring forth its truth and beauty to a larger perspective, that people may grow in vision, stature and dedication."
"When we blindly adopt a religion, a political system, a literary dogma, we become automatons. We cease to grow"
"When I do good, I feel good; when I do bad, I feel bad. That's my religion."
"At least two thirds of our miseries spring from human stupidity, human malice and those great motivators and justifiers of malice and stupidity, idealism, dogmatism and proselytizing zeal on behalf of religious or political idols."
"Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction."
"I do not consider it an insult, but rather a compliment to be called an agnostic. I do not pretend to know where many ignorant men are sure that is all that agnosticism means"
"A person has no religion who has not slowly and painfully gathered one together, adding to it, shaping it, and one's religion is never complete and final, it seems, but must always be undergoing modification."
"In conclusion, there is a marvelous anecdote from the occasion of Russell's ninetieth birthday that best serves to summarize his attitude toward God and religion. A London lady sat next to him at this party, and over the soup she suggested to him that he was not only the world's most famous atheist but, by this time, very probably the world's oldest atheist. "What will you do, Bertie, if it turns out you're wrong?" she asked. "I mean, what if -- uh -- when the time comes, you should meet Him? What will you say?" Russell was delighted with the question. His bright, birdlike eyes grew even brighter as he contemplated this possible future dialogue, and then he pointed a finger upward and cried, "Why, I should say, 'God, you gave us insufficient evidence."
