Modern Dragons. The dragon in modern culture, is very divided. You have the European dragon, which has it's roots in France, the Asian dragon, which is surprisingly similar the the native American idea of a Dragon, and then there are the pseudodragons, the dragon like things that are called something else. In American culture, the European dragon is most prevalent. From RPGs to novels, any time a dragon is depicted, especially in movies, a European dragon is shown. In Eragon, the dragons are depicted with feathers. It differs from traditional dragons. those dragons are similar to the feathered serpents like Quetzalcoatl of the Aztecs. Much like it has over the millennia, The Asian dragon permeates their culture. It is evident where ever a dragon is depicted, particularly in Japanese Manga and Anime. Last the Pseudodragons. There dragon like creatures may not have started out depicted like dragons, but there images have been distorted to reflect true dragons. An example would be the Hydra. Originally, it was far more serpentine that it is currently depicted in modern culture. But, as time pogressed, the form of the hydra became closer to that of the the European dragon.

	Basilisk also. It was originally just a snake, but many depict it with dragon-esque features.

	Very true. originally, the basilisk was the same as the cockatrice. Only recently has there been a distinction.

	A lot of people (including you I believe) posted a version of the riddle:"If a rooster lays an egg... what color will it be/which side will it fall on...?" etc etc Remember?
