By the sheer grace of God, I have survived Hurricane Katrina. Many, many people in New Orleans, not more than a few hours from my house, were not so lucky.

I went without power for a few days. No lights, no air conditioning, no tv, no phone. But this was not a crisis. This was an inconvienience. My house was fine. My neighbors had trees in their living rooms. My aunt's coworkers have lost their homes entirely, and are living with relatives in groups of over ten, in houses with no electricity and sometimes no running water.

Getting internet back is a mixed comfort. Every time I read the news, I hear more horror stories. People dying on rooftops of dehydration and hunger, looting of stores, the murders, rapes, and brutalization of innocents in the superdome...CHILDREN HAVE BEEN RAPED, DAMMIT!!

Forget Iraq. This is HELL in our OWN country!!!! We need to get our National Guard out of there and back HERE, where they'll actually do some GOOD!!!!

And Bush, the ********, acting like everythings's hunky dory...I hate him even more than I did before. Damn b*****d...cares more about his ******** PET WAR than the people IN HIS COUNTRY who need help NOW!!!

Nevermind God bless America. I'd be happy if He'd just SAVE IT.
