What's Inside My Wild Mind
Anything. Stories, poems, random crap, etc. Take a look and see what really goes on inside my head.
Learning Some of the Past
"...What?" Kyatsu said, confused. She'd never been told she had a cousin, before, and was shocked.
"If you don't believe me, dear, look in the journal," Kirin said, handing Kyatsu the book. Gingerly she took it and looked at the thin black letters. The first thing she noticed was the large image dead center in the page. It had the same curls, twists, and points as the mark on her shoulder. It was the same size, even. She moved her gaze from the mark to the letters surrounding it.
I cannot tell anyone about this, for surely they would hunt her down. My brother's child was born this night, and bears the following mark upon her shoulder. I have not even told my own family. My daughter and son, Kirin and Isaac, both only five years of age, may grow up never knowing about their young cousin. However, it may be safer for all three of them. I shudder to think what someone could or would do if they found the child.
My brother tells me he has named her Kyatsu, after the Dragon Goddess who reigns the domain of water. I don't know if he saw the mark or not, but it is the same as Our Lady Kyatsu's, and in the same place; on the back of her left shoulder. It may or may not be what I think it is. If it is, then this girl could hold the power of the Dragon Goddess.
I can feel time slipping by, even as I write this. I have asked my brother to never tell Kyatsu about Kirin and Isaac, and vice versa. If they do ever find each other, and they read this entry, then they must stay close for things will become ever more dangerous. Kyatsu will never have met me, for this journal shall only leave my hands when it is pried from my cold dead fingers.
Kirin, if you find this, just wait. I have the feeling Kyatsu will either be drawn or led to you, so long as you have the patience to wait for her. Isaac, if it is you who finds this, keep your sister safe. Make her wait. If she refuses, do what you must to keep her near you.
And do not forget this, above all: Do not trust those with the red eyes, for they will betray you to the Dragon God of Darkness and he will use your power to destroy all living things, including the other Dragon Gods. Trust the ones with eyes that are an unusual blue. They are stronger than they look, and can protect you better than you may think.
16th of Diluviare

As she finished reading, Kyatsu looked up at Kirin. "So... we were never told about each other..."
"Because if we were, no doubt we'd attract danger by trying to find each other," Kirin said, finishing Kyatsu's statement. "Going around asking 'Have you seen a girl named Kyatsu' would no doubt attract the ones with red eyes."
"And the ones with the shocking blue eyes... Does your father mean...?"
"People like Azrael? Yes. Though people with eyes described by my father are rare, they are out there. We're just lucky he found you and not someone else."
"I do have a question, though... about Azrael."
"Yes? Go ahead and ask. I know just about everything about him."
"When he was at my house, after scolding Erik and Jaden, he said something about looking for a companion. I'm pretty sure I could guess what he meant, but I just wanted confirmation."
"Well, tell me what you thought he meant."
"From his explanation of his search... I was guessing he wanted a lover."
Kirin's face grew soft. She hugged Kyatsu gently. "You're right, my dear. But, he wouldn't make you do it if you weren't willing. And even if you were or are, he would wait until you were older. He's not like most of the sick men out there who demand a woman as soon as she's fourteen or fifteen."
"That's good to know... I really like him, so far. I feel like I can trust him."
"Good. He's someone you and I can trust. I should know, I've been his friend since we were children."
Kyatsu smiled. "So... the other girls..."
"Most of them are victim to Erik and Jaden's stupidity. Azrael asked me to take care of them, since he wasn't about to leave them to face the world alone. There are a few who are children whom he found as orphans, and there are others who are women that couldn't trust men. I had to go with him for those ones."
Kirin chuckled warmly. There was a knock on the door and Azrael spoke from behind it. "Is it safe for me to come in now?" he asked lightly. "I heard your chuckle, Kirin. Are you telling her my life story?"
"Only what she asked," Kirin said, laughing. "And yes, you can come in."
The door opened and Azrael walked into the room, smiling and watching them with his blue eyes. "You didn't tell her anything bad, I hope."
"Nothing bad," Kyatsu promised, hugging him.
"Oh, and Azrael, before I forget... Thanks," Kirin said, setting the journal on a desk.
"For what?" Azrael seemed confused.
"That girl? She's my cousin."
He looked from Kyatsu to Kirin and back. "Should've known," he said with a smile. "I knew there was something familiar about her."
"Yes, and you'd better treat her with the same respect you treat me with. If she's my cousin, I don't doubt she'd have my temper."
They laughed. Suddenly Kirin was shooing away the crowd of girls yet again. "For goodness' sake, let her alone! At least until dinnertime! And Azrael, I think it's time we got rid of those guards. You should know as well as I do that they are nothing but trouble. They've killed so many girls' parents... You need to take that armor away from them. If you won't, then I will."
