Shounen yo jashin wo Idake...

Young man, embrace your wicked heart.
Endless Nights: Pt 2: Chpt 16D: Mysidian Memories
Issac and his new found friend quietly entered into the dank cave. Echoes and foreboding shadows loomed all over the dark gray walls. It seemed as though the farther they went in, the darker it got, and the more dangerous it became.

"So, are you a mage, then?", asked Eric.

"Yeah, I used to live here when I was a child. Then my parents died and I was taken to live with the Royal family in the capital.", replied Issac.

"What is it like living there?", asked Eric.

"It was...simple...too simple."

"What do you mean?"

"There are servants that do your every biddings, and you practically live out your entire life there on a chair. In short: it was a life that you weren't able to live."

"So why did you go?"

"I..knew someone there...I wanted to stay with her..."

"Oh..."

"But enough of th--wait...did it just get a bit more...echo-ish?"

Indeed the sounds in the cave were a bit more repetitive and loud at the moment. Issac raised his hand in front of him and created a golden blaze, bright enough to light the area around him up. He was amazed beyond his eyes. There they were standing on a thin and narrow pathway of colliding rocks about200 feet in the air. one step off the rock bridge and anyone would've fallen to their deaths.

"Its amazing that we didn't fall off when we could...", murmured Issac.

"How deep do you think the bottom is?", asked Eric.

"Well we're 200 feet high, so we should be able to see the bottom."

"Well, I can't."

He was right. Issac looked down and sure enough, he could not see anything but darkness at the bottom. Eric conjured a thin ring of fire and dropped it down, curious to see just how deep it was. It fell, spinning and tumbling around rock faces until it finally hit the bottom. But strangely, as it fell it seemed as if it pushed the surrounding shadow away.

"What in the world?", whispered Issac.

Suddenly, the entire cave floor was lit up with small round white lights, resembling little stars. Then they turned blood red and began to fly upwards towards the two young mages.

"Uh-oh!", exclaimed Eric.

"Crap...Shadow Wraiths.", cursed Issac. "Run for it, into the next tunnel!"

Both Issac and Eric, ran towards the tunnel path way in front of them with a huge mass of darkness on their tail. Slowly but surely, the wraiths were quickly approaching. As they ran, they lobbed fireballs, making sure not to destroy the network of bridges above them. To make matters even worse, the bridge they were on was fragile, as every step they took sent out a large crackling sound, and an even large crack on the ground where they just were.

"Do you think we can make it?", asked Eric in fear for his life.

"Not with all this talking!", yelled Issac.

One of the black Wraiths behind them raised its hand showing it's uncloaked deathly pale arm. It conjured a black flame and then reared back to lob it at the two. Suddenly, as they approached the pathway, Eric's eye began to glow white. His hands began to have a black Aura encircling around it. He immediately turned and swung his arms across each other, raising a criss-crossing black barrier that protected them from the Wraith's black flames. The collision was immense and knocked them into the tunnel and collapsing their only way back locking the Wraiths behind them for an eternity of darkness. Both mages were panting heavily and were tired as hell for all the wasted stamina.

"Well,", said Issac. "That was interesting..."

"I guess I forgot to mention something." said Eric with a tone of embarrassment.

"Save it for when we get out of here..."
