Story Contest Entry
" What a wonderful, sunny morning this is! " said Sennin as she opened her curtains,
The warm rays of light already beginning to brighten the room." So wonderful,
In fact I should go out and do something..." Her face fell at the thought. " But what is there to do? "
She gave a slight pout as she slumped to her kitchen table, grabbing the chair as she sat down.
With a small sigh, she opened the newspaper that lied next to her. " Jobs...Nah....Horoscopes...No...Adds...what's this? " Her face gleamed with joy as she began to
tear out the add. " The zoo is giving away FREE ice cream! AND There's a new monkey in the exhibit, This is something I have to go to ! " As she stumbled out of her
chair, she quickly ran up the stairs and grabbed her gold pouch, said her goodbyes to FireFox and Feris, and bolted out the door.
She began to babble to herself excitedly as she strolled through Barton Town." This is going to be something! They say that the monkey is over 13 feet tall! Is that
even possible for a monkey to even get that tall? Maybe it's a mutated monkey!" She smiled at the thought and continued to walk past the shops until she finally made
her way towards the Barton Zoo. Taking her gold pouch from her belt, she made her way towards the long line of Gaians. " Holy fizzle sticks, Did EVERYONE come to see
the mutated monkey?! " she thought as the line began to move slowly, " Man, this really sucks."She thought. "How am I ever going to see the monkey now? Let alone get
some free Rocky Road ice cream. " The ticket usher gave a slight cough as she finally snapped out of her thoughts." That will be 400 gold ma'am. " He said, utterly bored
out of his mind. Giving the usher the money, she took her ticket and stomped off, completely embarrassed that she lost track of time." Well...I guess I should start
off with the Tigers, they're the closest anyways." With a small smile she walked towards the tiger pit. She always loved tigers, they seemed so elegant to her.
Taking out her camera, She began to snap photos of the felines, and even some of the Gaians that were near the pit. As she began to scan through the photos she had
just taken, one Gaian she had accidentally photoed, caught her eye." So, Fave is here too, eh? " She looked up to see Fave sitting on a bench, eating some of the
ice cream he had just gotten.She bounded towards him with a huge grin on her face. " Hey Fave! " He looked up from the spoonful of ice cream he was about to devour, to
see Sennin walking towards him. " Hey, Sennin! Did you come for the ice cream too?" He said, laughing. She was about to say yes, but her stomach interrupted her.
" I'll take that as a yes. " He chuckled slightly. Sennin sighed as she put her camera away. " Not only that, but to see that mutated monkey!" She bubbled. " Did you
want to come see it with me?" Fave gave a pondering thought before he gave a slight nod. " Sure, but let me finish my -" He was cut off by a young man's scream,
followed by many others. Gaians began to run towards the gates, frantically trying to get out. A woman bumped into Sennin as she tried to run away. She grabbed her
arm so she couldn't run off. " What in Jashin's name is going on?! " The woman gave Sennin and Fave a puzzling look. " You mean you haven't heard?! Some rotten
scoundrels started throwing rocks at the Monkey's window in the new exhibit. It got so angry that it broke through the exhibits window and went on a rampage after
them! You must get out before It crushes us all! " As the woman began to run to the gates, Sennin and Fave gave each other a worried glance. " Poor Thing. " Sennin
said, her smiling fading away into an angry frown. " Those jerks shouldn't throw things at mutated monkeys! I'll show them what it feels like - "
She was interrupted by Fave grabbing her arm. " Come on!, We can worry about that later, for now lets just worry about saving our behinds from an over sized
gorilla!" Sennin gave a huff of annoyance as they began to run to the gates. Fave gave a disappointed sigh as they made it to the crowd." It's too crowded, there's no
way we can make it out!"
The loud sound of the monkey's roar frightened the Gaians, now trying to climb over the walls to get out. Sennin turned her head slightly to see a tree that was tall
enough to get over. " That's it! Fave, we can climb that tree to get over the wall!" As he was about to object, she grabbed him by the arm and sprinted towards the
tree. " Give me a boost will ya? " Sennin said, panting from the run. Fave cupped his hands together as he knelt down. Getting a tight grip on the trunk, Sennin set
her foot on Fave's hand, letting him heave her up. As she climbed her way to the first branch, she swung herself upside down, Grabbing Fave's hands as she hoisted him
up with her. " Almost there...We just have to jump off the wall" Fave huffed. Sennin gave him a shocked look. " JUMP?! Are you insane, we could die! " He looked at
her and smiled. " Nah, just trust me, alright? " Sennin gave an angry twitch, but gave a bubbly smile. " If I do die, you have two very angry fox spirits to deal with."
He gave a small sigh as he leaped down off the wall. Sennin closed her eyes as she too, jumped off. Expecting to hit the ground with a loud thud, but instead, into something soft. She opened her eyes to see that Fave had blocked her fall by catching her. Sennin began to blush as she jump out of his arms, " T-thanks " She muttered quietly. Fave laughed and began to walk near the Port of Gambino island. Fave guessed they were in the jungle area, so he stuck to the trail they were on. " Do you hear that...?" Sennin asked, shaking a little. Fave stopped and closed his eyes, trying to listen to the sounds. There was a heavy breathing that came just a little ways ahead of them. " it's coming from that direction. Come on Sennin! " He said, dashing towards the trees. Reluctantly, Sennin followed him until Fave finally came to a stop." What's wrong Fave? You - " He swiped his hand over her mouth to hush her. Sennin looked up, and smack dab ahead of them, was the mutated monkey. It's intense black eyes glared at them, teeth baring into a snarl. Sennin and Fave stood frozen, unable to move. " Oh man. " Sennin whispered. Fave twitched in shocked, as he slowly took a step back. " Run! "
